Gul Dakat's Kids

Photon

Commodore
Commodore
We were told on screen, I blv, he had 7 children.
He announced to Cardassia when the Dominion took over..that all be made whole....swore on the life of his son (singular)
So he had 6 girls and one boy.

Oh the drama at the Dukat house (j/k....not really)

Dukat did not have seven children.

He had seven children with his wife. ;)
Right, we know he had AT LEAST two others - Ziyal and the child of the Pai-Wraith cultist. And who knows how many more were out there?

Honestly, I feel like the Dukat family was an under-explored aspect of the character, because we never saw any of his legally recognized children, or his wife. She would have been an interesting perspective on him.

I wonder how many of them survived the Dominion War, or particularly the devastation of Cardassia.

Imagine if they decided to make Seska one of them....with flashbacks of a young Seska growing up, visiting Terok Nor...and befriending Kira's mother.

He may not necessarily have had only one son.

In that message, he said 'his son's birthday' was in a few days, which he then vowed to get rid of the Maquis and all Klingons within Cardassian space by that time. Then he says it's for his son and 'all our sons'.

I think he was simply using that particular son's birthday as a timetable to completion of those promises, not really meant to mean that was his ONLY son.

He actually refers to him as his oldest son. So Dukat had at least two sons with his former wife.

...Assuming he's telling the truth. I could see "it's my son's birthday" as a go-to move for him when he's trying to manipulate people. ;)

Like in "DEFIANT", when he tells Sisko about his son's birthday and how that situation prevented him from taking his son to a zoo, if I remember correctly.

I felt like there was some bit of manipulation going on there on Dukat's part.
