Spoilers Star Trek: Prodigy General Discussion Thread

Season 2 seems to be getting a DVD/Blu-ray release later this year. I was really worried once this made the jump to Netflix that we wouldn't get a physical release. Might not tip the scales as far as a renewal goes, but I certainly don't think it would hurt if enough people picked this up.

Prodigy is coming to Blu Ray on November 12th. I wonder if this means Netflix liked the performance because I have been told on multiple occasions that netflix shows do not come to physical media.

Watching Season 2 on itunes in Canada. The episodes seems shorter than S1 and the theme song is truncated in comparison to Season 1. Is that how it's also showing on Netflix?

My Netflix list shows both seasons' episodes as either 23 or 24 minutes as a rule, and my recollection is that the main title theme is the same length.

Ok well I'm a bit worried the itunes version is edited then. The theme song is definitely shorter clocking in at around 35 seconds with the beginning and end credits flashing super fast. . Each episode is listed as 21 or 22 minutes

If it's just the beginning and end theme edited than I can live with that. Not sure why that would be the case though on itunes. .

The part of the theme when the Protostar is flying super fast with the shields blistering in heat is gone. Is that part still there in Season 2's theme? Can anyone post /link a YouTube or similar video of the season 2's opening credit sequence as seen on Netflix?

Someone at the trekmovie.com comment section reports 1 minute 30 seconds for the theme on Netflix. This seems to confirm the itunes version is indeed edited. The question now is whether it's just opening / end credits or if it's more than that.

Unfortunately, since I don't have it on Netflix, I'm unable to do an exact comparison of the time index of an episode' s run time ( not including the opening and close credits ) to determine if episode content has been compromised.

EDIT: OK I have a guess here. The itunes version starts with " You are watching Nickelodeon ". So maybe this is the cable version that itunes has? If so, has anyone seen it on Nickelodeon in the past and noticed any cuts vs Paramount plus/streaming version? ( other than possibly the credit sequences)

When season 1 aired in german free TV they used a shortend version of the intro. It was just 30 seconds long. The frist 3 episodes of the first season are still on the homepage of the TV station and you can watch episode 3 with the short intro online for comparison:

(Episode 1 had another intro and episode 2 is the second part of Episode 1 and used the full.)

The end credits are also shorter/faster - about 25 seconds long. If it's the same on itunes it would seem it's an officially created version for linear TV and is accidentally used on itunes. If episode 1 "Lost and Found" is split into two parts on itunes that would be annother indicator for the use of the TV version.

I watched the whole first season in german free TV and noticed no other cuts apart from the intro and the credits in comparison to the P+ and blu-ray versions.

Thanks for the info . I don't have season 1 on itunes but it does show "Lost in Found " split into 2 parts on its episode index. . So this virtually confirms itunes has the tv version.

However knowing only the opening and closing credits are edited is good news. Although not my preference, I am fine with that. Eventually will get the blurays to back up my itunes version when I can get a good deal. You never know if someday Apple pulls the content.

Can anyone confirm if this bluray set works in North America?

Star Trek: Prodigy: Season 1 Blu-Ray Collection [2023] [Region A & B & C] https://a.co/d/gCCt3C4

It's the international release but the description says it's Regions A, B and C. I want to get Prodigy S1 on bluray and I'm considering getting this instead of getting the NA release which split season one into 2 parts. Getting this also less expensive that getting the 2 NA S1 sets
