Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

It does amuse me that when the show first started I thought Ser Criston was going to be the noble one and then he turned out to be a complete bastard!

I don't know if Daemon is ever going to accept being King Consort, and I wonder how long Matt is for this show? Alys made a good point about the innocent being the ones to suffer, and again the overriding theme of the show is how little power supposedly powerful women like Rhaenyra and Alicent have, despite both of them being extremely competent leaders.

With regard to Daemon's hallucinations. It does seem likely Alys is behind these, but are they there to weaken him, punish him, or something else? Could they be designed to redeem him?

I really need to stop hanging out on the HotD subreddit because it's actively decreasing my tolerance levels for fandoms. The amount of people who are either complaining about what happened with Rhaeneyra and Mysaria or who were somehow surprised by Rhaenyra being interested in women is honestly mind-boggling to me.

* sigh *

Funny hearing the Rains of Castamere motif, when that song in-universe hasn't even been written yet.

But that's the iconic Lannister theme, so *shrug*

I have to keep backing out of Max during or after the opening credits and then resuming the episode from there because that stupid full-screen mobile game offer keeps messing up the aspect ratio on the show, stretching the picture to fill my whole screen. Very annoying.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of hoping we'll see a Reyne at some point, but I'm not expecting it since the Lannisters aren't really that important in HotD. (Which I quite welcome after suffering from Lannister fatigue in the latter seasons of GoT.)

The Lannisters bringing lions to war made me laugh. What assholes.

Larys talking to Aegon was probably Larys' best scene yet.

Feels like it should be a 10 episode season instead of 8 but maybe that's just me wanting more episodes.

Definitely been seeing a lot more criticism for the show after these last few episodes, and I hate to admit it, but I somewhat agree. I'm not even someone demanding more action every episode, but I think the pacing of this season has just been off. I think this is mainly due to having to follow a strict timeline of events in the original book, which means some characters are stuck spinning their wheels for a bit -- most notably Daemon, Alicent, and Rhaenyra. I actually enjoy the Haunting of Harrenhouse scenes, and Alicent's fall from power is an interesting watch. Rhaenyra though... I think her scenes would've been better spent fleshing out her council or showing more of her negotiations with the other great houses.

Why does she still only have two one Queensguard? Who are these random complaining members of the Black Council? We are intimately familiar with everyone on the Green Council, what their individual goals and vices are. The Black Council are apparently just whoever was standing in the room when Viserys died. Her son was eaten alive last season, but her only major action this season was sneaking into King's Landing to talk to Alicent, a goofy plan which I'm not sure what Rhaenyra could've possibly hoped for. And I know it's been divisive, but my initial reaction to the Mysaria relationship is that it's bit of a bizarre move, I think mainly because I find Rhaenyra's goals nebulous already this season. I'm waiting to see what they do with the idea the rest of this season though.

I was worried for team Green when the queen managed to get three additional dragons on her side but then I noticed that Monkey D. Garp was on Team Green's side. He can defeat a dragon with one punch.

I assume
Willem Blackwood
but is he, really?

The Riverlands stuff continues to be really good, and I'm loving Oscar Tully. Really looking forward to more Tully goodness and if Daeron is the kind of guy he's been talked about as, he's gonna bring an awesome element to the Greens and complicate matters.

I'm... rather less than pleased with how they've done the sowing of the Dragonseeds, and with Jace's story in particular.

In the book, inviting bastards and lowborn to try and claim Seasmoke, Vermithor and Silverwing (plus Sheep Stealer and the may-not-appear Cannibal and Grey Ghost) was Jace's idea. Between that, and negotiating with Jeyne Arryn and Cregan Stark, you get the idea Jace was very much Rhaenyra's right hand man and somebody Rhaenyra could really rely on after Luc's death. Almost a pseudo-Hand before he named Corlys as Hand. You get the impression he would have made quite a good King if things had turned out differently, and is maybe only second to Daeron the Daring in terms of "heroic figures."

In the show, we got maybe 5 minutes of him with Cregan, nothing with Jeyne Arryn, and even one of his most significant moments, treating with the Freys, is presented as something he goes off and does on his own without Rhaenyra's blessing and it's unclear at first how she'll react. He's not the one to suggest Corlys as Hand, and it feels like the show is going way out of its way to push Rhaenyra and Mysaria, with Jace even bizzarely against opening the hunt for dragonriders to bastards and lowborn.

The dude doesn't have a lot of time left, and at this point it feels like they're going to have to do a lot of work to make what happens at the Gullet as impactful. Jace is supposed to be the guy who's different from Aegon and Aemond and Daemon, and I'm really finding the pushing of Mysaria (over Baela too for that matter) to be... annoying. Unless they really change the timeline around, we're talking the first couple episodes of Season 3.

(Sidenote, was supposed to be Forrest and Sabitha Frey? If so, that's... disappointing. Really having a hard time imagining her leading troops or having a thing with Alyssane Blackwood if so... she and Bloody Ben Blackwood and the Muppet Tullys made the Riverlanders be awesome in the Dance. I don't find it super-likely we'll get Blody Ben and Black Alys anymore... but maybe? Making Sabitha Frey old and focusing on her as a grasping politician is such a terrible choice because it just sticks with the "Freys are old political people" thing from Game of Thrones.)
