Spoilers Variety about the future of Star Trek

Disney is having to cut back as well (They're cutting back from four Marvel series per year to two.)
True. Makes the whole idea even more fiscally irresponsible when you see what's happening there.
SNW lost people when it shifted from Disco to its own show.
Wasn't there an alien version of Colt, originally? Interesting idea, I don't know where that came from.

Yeah, some of the threads were put there to set up DS9 and it worked quite well I reckon. Picard set a few things up for a potential Seven of Nine show as well, and I'm not entirely optimistic about how they'd play out, but I've been wrong before.

this one was introduced on TNG specifically for DS9 to use.

"Even though this episode proved an inspiration on the creation of the DS9 TV series, it was written at a time before that series was envisioned. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - The Official Poster Magazine, issue 0)"

The problem I see for Legacy is, other than seeing Seven, Raffi, and the progeny of the TNG cast, what would the show do that Strange New Worlds isn't doing already? It would be another Enterprise, exploring the galaxy with a mission-of-the-week. What would be the point other than appeasing fans who haven't changed their calendar since 2005?

We don't know that at all. There's a million different things it could be doing that don't have to mimic what SNW is doing. There were a few Enterprises in season 3 of Picard. How many of them did what SNW was doing? The story possibilities are literally infinite.

SNW has had its share of misfires ("The crew enters a fairy tale! Enterprise: The Musical!" )

Nope. Both were excellent. Trek needs more of this kind of creative spark and inventiveness.

I could buy "Those Old Scientists" (Alternate dimension? Nothing new for Trek.)

Going from animated to live action? That's a new wrinkle on the concept.

What it doesn't need is rehashing solemn characters and storylines from Berman-era Trek.

And to think a certain section of the fandom is singing Terry Matalas's praises BECAUSE he brought back Berman-era Trek.
