this one was introduced on TNG specifically for DS9 to use.
Yeah, some of the threads were put there to set up DS9 and it worked quite well I reckon. Picard set a few things up for a potential Seven of Nine show as well, and I'm not entirely optimistic about how they'd play out, but I've been wrong before.

We don't know that at all. There's a million different things it could be doing that don't have to mimic what SNW is doing. There were a few Enterprises in season 3 of Picard. How many of them did what SNW was doing? The story possibilities are literally infinite.

I thought it added much needed levity. Trekkies take this stuff too seriously. They need their world shaken from time to time.It just took me out of the show. I found it distracting.

Nope. Both were excellent. Trek needs more of this kind of creative spark and inventiveness.
What it doesn't need is rehashing solemn characters and storylines from Berman-era Trek.

Her and everyone else. I was surprised she didn't have more songs. Chong was more of a standout, IMOI call it the "Let's have Celia Gooding Sing!" episode.
I could buy "Those Old Scientists" (Alternate dimension? Nothing new for Trek.)
Going from animated to live action? That's a new wrinkle on the concept.
And to think a certain section of the fandom is singing Terry Matalas's praises BECAUSE he brought back Berman-era Trek.
Anomaly makes the crew act different is also nothing new for Trek.
Maybe next season there will be a real life giant inflatable Enterprise.
