News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

Personally, I am not looking forward to SFA.
I watched Picard season 3 and enjoyed it quite a lot.
I stopped watching Discovery after season 2 or 3.
Terrible.

Strange New Worlds feels closer to the original Trek (except the singing episode). I have to admit that the performances were unexpectedly well done.

Perhaps when the new episodes of Starfleet Academy come out, one could include Q giving advice to a cadet without revealing he is Q

But even the minutiae gets moved,, like the Eugenics Wars/WW3. TNG adjusted it to the 21st century and added a post atomic horror.

If it tries to be distinct it doesn't last long. It tries hard not to be a separate timeline but connect back to our history, and present as our future. Meaning it tries to update a 60s era future projection of technology to align with a contemporary understanding.
It does try, but like I mentioned with the Europa mission in 2024, there's always that hint of difference.

(I don't actually think the 2030's Mars mission shown in Star Trek Voyager will happen either, but I desperately want to be wrong.)

Hints don't make it definitely different, especially if there are other indications towards it being in line with our timeline, and pushing towards out future. So, it creates an odd place of Trek trying to have its cake and eat it too.

One of the things that the previous shows tended to do with showing scenes or talking of the 'future' (TOS Eugenics Wars of the 90s, Bell Riots, Mars mission from "ONE SMALL STEP", etc.) is that they were almost always roughly 30 years later from when that episode was produced. It's far enough in the future to still feel like it's a long time, but still short enough to be something that feels possible.

Same with the Terminator films, and the propensity to shift Judgement Day every couple of movies. Unfortunately, it didn't help that the films got worse over time.

Just to add a bit of mischief.

Show takes place after Q's death.

Q showed up after his death to see Jack Picard.

“You’re not thinking fourth-dimensionally, Marty!”
Sorry wrong franchise.

Actually, temporally speaking, Q is still out there causing mischief in every time from before he died.

Temporal mechanics hurts my head

Hollywood is well known for not being able to find parts for "actresses of a certain age" that's why so many started doing prestige TV a few years ago.
It depends if your the lead of show you can easily make more money then being a character actress in films (or the star in art house film). Easily. And let's be really clear here its far harder for an older female actress to get lead jobs, in a mainstream movie. It just doesn't happen that often.

I mean she was doing Saving Grace back between 2007-2010, and after that ended in 2010 she has only been the lead in one very small film.

I love that Elastigirl is now part of the Star Trek family. I think she will be great and with Tawny Newsome as head writer, maybe there is something (or two things) to look forward to with this series.
I am pretty sure Tawny Newsome is on the writers staff. I don't believe she's the head writer.

I think it's Gaia Violo. But I could easily be wrong.

1987 was known as The Year of Holly Hunter as it opened with Raising Arizona and closed with Broadcast News, heralding the emergence of a small Southern dynamo.

Of course, you'll also want to stream the 4-hour cut of Batman v Superman: Justice is Dawning in which Ms. Hunter portrays Senator Edsell-Kranch. Also the comedy Crash in which people have sex during car crashes etc.

Forbidden love story with Admiral Vance?
