Congrats to Matalas. Hopefully his team gets to work on the VisionQuest series as well. I know some were on this forum back then.
He's got a bright future with Kevin Feige at Marvel. Perhaps even following Matt Shakman to direct/produce the films down the line.

Feige praised his work on Pic S3. And Feige's MCU was the winning template, that Kurtzman and many other producers have been trying to aim for. It was the gold standard for franchise-building, during the first ten years.
Legacy wouldn't have really brought a new audience to Trek. It preaches to the converted.
Paramount's best bet now is this Star Trek Origins film.

Star Trek endures because of the converted. New Trek hasn't brought in the same kind of devote followers. People started going to the church of Star Trek again when Picard Season 3 came along.
It might be one of Disney+'s one-season wonders (WandaVision, TFATWS).
They have an Agatha Harkness show under development.

That's why I used past tense about the MCU.
Still a far more profitable and lucrative franchise to be apart of, compared to Nu Trek. He made a wise decision.
How many people here got into Star Trek as a kid because they watched it with a parent or other relative? The existing audience could have brought in a new, younger audience.
A Captain Sulu/Excelsior series would interest me a lot more than Legacy ever could.
But will Disney be as accommodating? They are a whole different animal than anyone else. Maybe they would, I dunno.
I just wouldn’t expect him to be involved in Legacy if it were to happen in the next few years.
We won't know if that's the case for another couple of decades.
I didn't think there were a lot of people who started with Voyager and/or Enterprise, but it apparently did amass a following.
As for Matalas / Vision / Legacy, I imagine e Legacy can still happen, either without Matalas or once he's done with Vision, which is likely only 1 season.

She-Hulk was renewed for a second season under former Disney CEO Bob Chapek. When now-current CEO Bob Iger took over, it was cut back to one season!
I'd love to see a Seven/Raffi/Jack series, just to resolve the tease, and find out what Seven chose as her departure order catch-phrase (was that even a thing before that lame bit with Spock in SNW?)
I'd love to see Frakes, Sirtis, Burton, Spiner, and/or Stewart show up from time to time in such a series.
I'd love to see a Picard prequel, set in the Stargazer era.
I might even find a Shaw prequel series interesting (isn't he dead by the end of PIC s3?)

The Spock bit was the best one. They forced it (a little) with Pike in Season 2. They really hammered it with Saru practicing on crew members, and that was the lamest one. They've done their best to make "Let's fly" a thing, which is ironic since Discovery does the least "flying" of any Trek ship ever. Spock's thing I almost saw as a parody of the badly-forced trope.
Also, technically, we didn't see the Dominion in PIC 3. I'd like to see what the actual Dominion is up to.
More people have seen Discovery's 5th season than Picard's third, according to the neilsens.
Watched more than ST:TOS too.
Star Trek 2009 is also the highest grossing Star Trek movie.
What do these numbers actually translate into in the long term though?
They indicate what CBS/Paramount is willing to greenlight in the future.
