2. Second thing is fat out of shape Tilly won a marathon, rofl.
My friend, whom I've known for 29 years, is built like built like Mary Wiseman and competes in Mud Run/Obstacle courses and places very well, thank you.

Yup. It was about endurance and willpower, not speed. There were only two contestants left at the end. They weren't just the first to get to the finish - they were the only ones to get to the finish. The competion seemed to more be who could go the longest without drinking than who could run the fastest, TBH.
They didn't know Season 5 was going to be the last one while they were filming. They found out after the fact, then were allowed to add an epilogue to the end of the season.Haven't thought much of the Discovery episodes this season, but this was easily one of the most like classic Trek in this show's entire run. It surprised me.
Also - I assume this has been discussed elsewhere, but what's the theory on the writers introducing Rayner as, effectively, a replacement for Saru this late in the show's run? I think the character adds some much-needed grounding to the crew, but it's weird that they'd do this at the end. Doug Jones busy with other things? Plans for a spin-off starring Rayner?
Hence the quotes.Replicators aren't forgotten tech.

No they don't, Replicators have firmly defined rules.Hence the quotes.
Replicators like all Trek Tech operate at the need of plot.
They make stuff, until they don't for "reasons"No they don't, Replicators have firmly defined rules.
Yes I was kinda grossed out I don't remember which season it was but Admiral Vance was saying he never had a real apple and everything was reconstituted fecal matter. They make stuff, until they don't for "reasons"
And latinum...because, hoo-man!The only rule since 1987 seems to be "replicatiors can't make substances banned in-universe by the Federation and can't replicate entire, huge, working ships." Everything else is up for grabs.
Biomimetic gel or a big shuttlecraft? No. Everything else? Negotiable.
Was it stated explicitly on DS9 that it was impossible to replicate gold pressed latinum, or was that just speculation? It seems like for societies that use physical currency, not being able to replicate it would be a huge criteria! The only rule since 1987 seems to be "replicatiors can't make substances banned in-universe by the Federation and can't replicate entire, huge, working ships."
