Kurtzman wants something recognizable as a Federation ship at a glance? GASP

It depends. If that's ALL you read/watch/enjoy? I think it's indicative of another issue.
I still read comic books. They're fun. But I feel like if you only ever read comics or something meant to be simpler for a more introductory audience, you'll stagnate intellectually. It's like if you're weightlifting and you only ever use one weight.
I might be a little judgmental on that, I realize, but I do get aggravated when I feel like people are stagnating themselves in such a way.

You're assuming all comic books are simplistic, though

Most people stagnate no matter what they're reading or watching

The U.S.S. Linearity.

That’s actually not a bad name….though with the budget cuts and the emphasis on faster better cheaper—call it the USS Dan Goldin—of the Delta II class…the tiny egg-shaped shuttle the PAM-D.

You just have to separate the primary hull to slide it into the Stargate—erm…the dingus

It’ll fit…that and it looks about as wide as the TMP travel pod and docking ports—so it actually makes sense docking to DS9 nose first.

Each Star Trek series needed to be set after the previous ones to keep the newer VFX and newer ships matching.

Academy is getting the biggest Star Trek set in history, they are using ALL of Pinewood studios, it sounds like they are going to BUILD Starfleet Academy in in Toronto .

I wonder if this is the first time Toronto has stood in for San Fransico, its been New York and Chicago plenty, among other cities in northern States, maybe LA too, even rarely Toronto plays Toronto itself, but I think this might be the first time the city of Toronto plays San Fransico.

I love the idea of that... feels a bit ostentatious in the midst of the network being in absolute fire mode in regards to hemorrhaging money to then go and say "but we're ALSO going to build a crazy huge set."

But business-end be damned, this is great. I was just recently talking about something similar in regards to the new Ghostbusters movie, how far too many visual media projects today lack "movie magic" to so speak. There's no magic, no "how the hell did they do that?"... CGI. That's how. To actually BUILD real things and put in an exceptional level of detail goes a long way, even if the viewer is consciously aware of every last detail. It brings back something of a sense of magic, truly being able to feel like they are in a "real" place.

I don't hate that they're continuing with the 32nd century. 25th is preferred, but 32nd is fine. At least it's not 23rd, again. I'm still going to hold reservations about the show given the stated target demographic... "tween and teens"... but I am also somewhat hopeful given Kurtzman's acknowledgement that they need the established fanbase as well and can't just ignore them.

DSC Seasons 3 and 4 were a vast improvement over 1 and 2, with one of the main issues dragging them down (in my opinion) being Burnham. Getting to see this era of the world through a lens other than StarMichael BurnTrekham: The Michael Burnham Show Featuring Michael Burnham does pique my interest.
