They must be getting desperate.

They should have seen the Kang thing through. I got invested in that due to Loki. Bailing on it feels like the kind of thing WB/DC would do.

I'd be excited about Marvel Zombies if Ash Williams was a part of it, otherwise nil interest.

So with 'Thunderbolts' finally due to start shooting in a couple of weeks I was wondering; are they going to keep up the comic book conceit of The Sentry having been there from the start but forgotten about and add him into footage from previous films?

I hope not. I don't like the idea of the stories we've had for all these years turning out to be wrong. Also, isn't the Sentry supposed to be a Superman-level character? It's implausible that the stories we have would've turned out remotely the same way if a guy that powerful had been around. It also takes away Captain Marvel's thunder as the most powerful hero in the MCU.

There's no need for him to have been around for everything. They could just pick something.

Also, 'taking away Captain Marvel's thunder' isn't any more a legitimate argument against the Sentry than 'taking away Thor's thunder' was against Captain Marvel.
