However, the message received seems to be something like Picard Season 3.
One thing about the current era of Trek, they *HAVE* largely been responsive to fan reactions.
People had gripes about the setting of Discovery, they addressed it.
People had gripes about the Klingons in Discovery, they addressed it.
People expressed interest in more Pike, they gave us more Pike.
Despite Picard coming out and saying it wasn't going to be a TNG reunion, fans expressed interest in a TNG reunion, they gave us a TNG reunion.
They cancelled Prodigy, fans wanted more Prodigy, they found a way to give us more Prodigy.
Kurtzman is listening. Hell while i'm not particularly stoked for it, fans I do think largely reacted well to Section 31, so, we're getting Section 31. Starfleet Academy is something of a wild card, although there have been several aborted attempts to get an Academy series for like, 30 years.
The predominant fan reaction at the moment is... more Picard S3. So yes, if they follow their current pattern, we should be getting something similar when the production schedule allows. Might be awhile though, with SNW S3, Section 31, and Starfleet Academy in the works. Paramount probably doesn't have room in their production schedule to take on something like that yet. MAYBE after SNW S3 and Section 31 wrap, they would have room to add in another movie-type production.
Just with budgets in mind, it would make financial sense to do something like Legacy, if not Legacy. They have costumes, props, sets, etc. all prebuilt and ready to go. Hell, they also have the resource of Star Trek Online, pumping out ship models and such for them that can apparently... and surprisingly... be adapted for on screen use.
