NFL 2023: A different shade of green for Aaron Rodgers

It would be his third offense in four years at the NFL level. I think they are taking Caleb Williams.
Historically, the team can't develop QBs. Fields had been showing improvement and they still have a lot of holes, esp on the o-line. They're more than one great(?) player away from anything but more mediocrity.

Add in they're still owned by the McMummies, so I doubt anything they do at this point will matter much. It's a culture problem.

I guess if you're the Bears, you have to ask yourself this: how much better does Fields have to be to just catch Love, Goff and whoever the Vikings run out next year (likely Kirk Cousins)? What kind of leap does he have to make to enter that tier of QB? Is Fields a guy who can put a team on his back and take over the game at the NFL level?

I don't think Fields needs to be as good as the other guy, as long as he gets better and the running game keeps on working as well as it has in recent weeks. More o-line depth and another big WR would be good steps. Not sure if using the #1 pick for Harrison Jr. is the answer for them either.

This season was a big adjustment for Fields, going from the run first QB has was in 22 to a more balanced one in 23.

As far as putting a team on his back? We really haven't seen that yet. He tends to make the most mistakes in crunch time, usually a game ending INT.

I don't think either Poles or Eberflus would've sacked Getsy (and the QB coach) if they were bringing Fields back. A third offense in four years for a guy who doesn't seem to have mastered anything at the NFL level would be a stretch.

And there's no guarantee that a Caleb Williams is there in 2025 to draft or that the Bears would be in position to get them if he was.

Jody Allen to sell the team?

She's supposed to, at some point, but has said that it takes a really long time to finalize an estate like Paul Allen's. She could be just dragging her feet because she likes the attention an NFL owner gets.

If she is, the name that's been brought up every time is Jeff Bezos.

I'm on the fence with Bezos. He has the pockets for it, but he's recently sold his house here in Seattle and is moving to Florida full time to be closer to his parents. I don't want an absentee owner.

I find it interesting that in his opening statements, Pete said that he felt he was losing his edge, and that he made some coaching mistakes in the last two seasons that he wouldn't have made three or four years ago. It's not like he lost the team, but that they'd heard all the stories before. Maybe he knew it was time.

If they want to inject some youth into the organization, Nick Saban is available. He's like one month younger than Pete Carroll!
