Spoilers What If...? season two discussion thread

I wonder who handles the additional voice casting for this, because I noticed a lot of the additional actors are the same people you’d also see pop up over in the Star Wars doing additional voice over shows/movies, animated and live action, like David Collins

Fun episode. I liked the whole Blade Runner style sci-fi noir.

Yeah, after writing that, I realized I don't actually know of any other kind of sci-fi noir besides Blade Runner.

This first episode was great. As a big fan of Nebula and Blade Runner I really liked it.
It put together a combination of characters that never would have occurred to me, but they were a lot of fun together. I love Korg, Meik, and Groot, so I got a kick out of the role in this.
I agree @Turtletrekker that it was nice to finally see Seth Green's Howard get a meatier role.

Another excellent episode. I loved how the episode carefully crafted and worked along with the various character developments of 1988, particularly the relationships between Hope/Hank, PeggyHoward/Bucky/Steve (in memory), and Peter/Ego/Meredith (in memory). I also loved how the parent/child strifes of each group helped the 80s Avengers and Peter find common ground and ultimately take down Ego's madness.

Along with so many returning voices (with only Annette Benning in absentia), I love the smart decision to bring in John Kani's son, Atandwa, to voice young T'Chaka. Such a loving tribute to both the actor and the character.

There were a lot of wonderful callbacks from the main timeline, but I especially enjoyed Howard's suggestion of shoving Ego's seed down a garbage disposal. What is it with Starks and wanting to use kitchen appliances to destroy cosmic objects?

I couldn't even tell that wasn't Annette Benning

Wow everyone except Mar-vell and Young Peter were played by their actors from the movies. That includes young Hope, she was voiced by the actress who played her in the Ant-Man 2 flashbacks.

Even Bucky's handler over the radio was the same actor.

The best part of these "What...if?" episodes are the fun speculations into the future.

Howard Stark won't die unless someone aggressively finds Bucky and gives him a secret order.

Tony's parents not dying might not lead to Iron Man even being created or in the future Howard and Tony make Iron Man together?

Peter Quill will be raised by the Pyms. Maybe he'd be a future Ant-man? Also no GOTG being formed.

Thor is introduced way early to Earth and working as a team. He might be even be a senior/experienced Avengers before the idea is even though up.

Where's Fury and Agent Coulson going to factor into this?

Will Mar-vell still get killed?

With Mar-Vell's secret in the open, there won't be any need for secret test/aid flights, so while she could still get killed by the Kree some other way the accident from CM doesn't happen and Carol doesn't get powers, Fury never loses his eye nor starts 'the Avengers Initiative'.

With Bucky out of Hydra's hands, Peggy could learn about Hydra's infiltration of SHIELD decades ahead of time preventing Pierce and his accomplices from ever gaining control of SHIELD, so SHIELD never falls. Also, Bucky not only doesn't kill Stark's parents, he also doesn't steal the Super-soldier serum from their car which means no Soviet super-soldiers and also that serum goes to the US govt. where it was intended to go so General Ross has no need to try to create his own version of the serum. Therefore Bruce Banner never becomes the Hulk. Bucky also might go looking for Steve's body, so Steve gets thawed out 15 years early.

Oh, nice catch there! While I wondered if that was the same actor who played Bucky's handler, I didn't even consider whether that was the same actress who played young Hope. All the more shame Benning didn't return, although I agree her replacement did a great job of inhabiting the role.

I, too, love thought experiments like these.

We can take it even further:

With the open knowledge of Wakanda, the possibility of Tony not becoming Iron Man (or at least by the same means and/or time), and Peggy discovering HYDRA's plot in advance, then the disaster in Sokovia would never happen as well as the assassination of T'Chaka.

Trying to figure out where Today's episode would take place.

Maria Hill is deputy director of SHIELD, JARVIS isn't Vision, there's Iron Man drones.

I'm placing it around the same time roughly as Iron Man 3. Not sure if that completely works, but it's what I'm going with. Admittedly, my mind went there mostly because Iron Man 3 also takes place at Christmas.

I'm liking these episodes but having to look up those C list people like Foster to re acquaint myself.
