What If Season 2.jpg

What with the new trailer out today and more news about the second season (including how Michael Douglas, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Jude Law, Kurt Russell, and Sam Rockwell are among the featured voice guests) and that the Kahhori episode will be entirely in Mohwak (first link), it's high time we have a discussion thread for the second season!

We already know of four of the episodes:

What If...Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?
What If...Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?
What If...Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?
What If...European Colonialization Didn’t Happen? (not quite the episode title but the scenario was quoted by executive producer Bryan Andrews)

We also know that the Gamora and Tony Stark episode that was cut from the first season will finally be released this season. I forget what was the speculated scenario for that episode, but I remember we discussed it following the first season's conclusion.

Based on the trailers, what are everyone's guesses on the remaining episodes?

I've tagged the thread as News for now, but come December 22, I'll switch it Spoilers and the season can and will be talked about here openly. You've been warned!

Man, I do NOT like that animation style. Nice hearing Goldblum's voice in anything, though.

we've got all the episode titles now

Oh, right! I completely forgot about the 1602 episode! I cannot wait for that one, even though I wish 1602 was getting more than just a single episode of adaptation.

Curious how they released all of the titles ahead of the premiere when they were held back until their respective releases last season. Maybe they did it to drum up more interest leading into the daily marathon.

Either way, I'm super psyched for this season!

"What if Peter Quill attacked Earth's mightiest heroes?"

I feel like I already saw that, in a movie

Yeah IIRC (I can't remember if this was mentioned in an interview, or was a leak)
instead of falling back to earth at the end of the first Avengers he ends up on Sakaar.

Definitely looking forward to this, all of the titles have piqued my curiosity, and the trailers were pretty cool.
I wonder if this continues if we'll get one episode featuring an alternate universe from the comics each season? Last season was zombies, and now we're getting 1602 this season.
If we get a third season, I wonder what they'll do? The only two other alternate universes I'm really familiar with a 2099 and Wastelanders.

There's the Mayday Parker universe, which would be nice to see--- although if Sony had any sense they'd have already done that with Toby as Peter.

Is that the one where Peter lost a leg? If so, I agree. Could still do it if they wanted.

will all episodes release on Dec 22 or it this a weekly thing?
Had a 2nd look on the twitter grahphic and saw it's a daily/week long release.

Looking forward to the Captain Carter and especially Kahhori episodes.

Episode 1 is out
Someone was a fan of Blade Runner, sheesh.

But I think this is my favourite episode of the series so far.

Maybe second to the Star Lord T'Chala episode.

That was a lot of fun, although I do have to wonder just what Korg and Meik were doing on Xandar. It was nice to see Howard the Duck, even an alternate reality Howard the Duck, finally get a big role in a story.

"What If...Nova Joined the Nova Corps?"

More like "What If...Karen Gillan starred in her own Blade Runner story set in the MCU?"

The answer: Perfection!

I loved this episode and not just because it starred my favorite MCU character in a story heavily influenced by favorite film. Okay, okay, that played a large part of it. Nonetheless, the whole adventure was a lot of damn fun and that's the main point of What If...?

I know most of these stories are intended as one-offs (Peggy Carter, zombies, and maybe 1602 aside), but I would love to see the Guardians of the Galaxy: Rock Paper Scissors Edition again!

Considering Jude Law returned as Yon-Rogg, it's a shame (albeit unsurprising) Glenn Close and Vin Diesel didn't also return. Julianne Grossman did fairly well as Nova Prime at the beginning but she sounded less and less like Close by the end. Not a big deal, just something that stood out much like last season's absentees.

That was a lot of fun, although I do have to wonder just what Korg and Meik were doing on Xandar.
Probably the same reason Groot (without Rocket) and Drax are on Xandar. Ronan's earlier betrayal of Thanos rippled across the cosmos, which somehow prevented the Guardians of the Galaxy from forming and Korg and Meik end up on Xandar instead of Sakaar. Wibbly-wobbly, handy-wavy. Good enough for me.

Seth Green does a good job but it's not what I "hear" when I've read the Howard comics over the years. I realize that's purely subjective and a me problem though.

It was fun that it played out in such a way that we kind of get an alternate version of the Guardians.

Must Disney always flip the credits just before the guest cast? And must I always hit the wrong button to put them back on?

Yeah, that always drives me insane. This time, the interface was moving so slowly, that I couldn't get it to pause and rewind, although the lag may have been a browser issue. Still, it's a frustrating experience and I really wish everyone adapted Netflix's setup of letting you to chose between the two and just moving the cursor prevents it from jumping away.
