Jayru (JSnaith's) 3D Trek

"I'm resting! Really! here are 3 pages of things I am NOT working on.. sorta kinda.. " :rommie:;):p
LOL, I have oodles of study models. Quick to knock up and help me see what's possible (for my level of skill) and to help capture shapes. Trying not to leave study models too long - but actually make use of them. Finishing projects is important.

Great job but now get back to that break! Rest good! Recharges the batteries and creativity. :mallory::techman:
:-) Thank you.

I speak with a therapist at the moment, and she's happy for me to dive back in, as long as I am mindful of the burn out meter. (You have one nervous breakdown and have to have your mind checked regularly... it's all good though. I'm tougher than I used to be.) I had nearly a week away from it all. Lots going on in life, so this is a nice distraction. No fears I'm ok, and the batteries are doing fine. I seriously don't do down time well, read five books, caught up on some shows I'd recorded and chilled. What can I say? Maybe that's all I needed.

Rather proud of the nacelles on this one, the red-blue blend worked out really well, as did the shape. Rather enjoyed making them, lol. Anyways, thank you for your concern, I am fine ;-)

More soon!

Few more things to add to the secondary hull (thrusters, windows, rooms, minor markings) and then I can move on to the primary hull. Name for this one is going to be Pioneer. Rather liking this one.

Comments welcome, more tomorrow (probably).

I like the quote “ Anyone who sees a psychiatrist should have their head examined.”
:)
Seriously, take it easy when you can.
Have you ever heard of a British tv show called Red Dwarf? I highly recommend it.
It is a comedy, so you might like it… maybe.

I have been watching Red Dwarf since it started. Being based in the UK, it's a pre-requisite, as is watching Doctor Who - belated happy 60th to that show - and Blake's 7 - who I did a who host of ships from in 3D last year. I love the fact the the two oldest sci-fi series still in production are British.

I'm ok at the mo. Yeah, life is throwing a few curve balls, but am dealing. I'm not alone ;-) Have a fantastic other half who handed my hard-drives back yesterday morning because they said I looked bored out of my brains and sad. The hope was I would get back into writing again. But... 3D is calling, and she's a fickle mistress, demanding at times.

I do like to describe my self as a mad-man-with-a-walking-stick and being in my fifties... I do grumpy old man well at times, lol. No issues from me re shrinks. If you break a leg you see a doctor, the same if you break your mind. It's nothing shameful or anything to be embarrassed about. I was attacked and hurt, the injury extended to my mind as well because of what they did. Recovering - which I guess I still am, is a day by day process. I'm lucky that I have support, and ways to keep my mind off dark things.

:techman:

I like the 'color outside the lines'/'break the mold' nature of many of the ships in this thread. You know, like the funky nacelles on the Pioneer.
:techman::techman::techman:
Given that, I am surprised to see the deck heights always the same. I would have expected the same freedom of thought expressed there as well.

Looking awesome as always! The only quibble I have is one that bugs me throughout Trekdom, so don’t take it personally.

If she’s to be the Janeway Class, then why Pioneer? Is the class named after famous (or infamous, lol) Admirals of Starfleet, or what? Was Janeway a pioneer? I suppose you could say so, but… it doesn’t ‘feel’ right.

And yes, there’s quite a few ‘one offs’ or ‘odd’ name & class conflicts, both in Star Trek (USS Discovery & Crossfield Class) and RL (USS Gabrielle Gifford & Independence Class), but still…

Anyway, I’ll hop off my soapbox for now. Still gorgeous what you’ve done here.

Cheers,
-CM-

Huh, Janeway did quite a bit of pioneering in those seven years when they were the first Starfleet ship to ever cross the Delta quadrant, no? Quite a fitting name I should think.

Re the decks, DSC season 3&4 showed that even in the 32c they have consistent decks, but thanks to programable matter they can change the layout in places. So yes, the ship has 22 decks normally, but subject to what the crew needs :-)

Thank you!

The name is not yet fixed, so I will give it some thought.

Yep, the name could work, but I'll give it some thought.

More later folks ;-)

Well, yes, I can agree with that idea… but I don’t think that would warrant naming an entire class after her, basically/IMO.

What would the follow-on ships be named, for instance? Descriptive adjectives of ADM Janeway’s character? Err, maybe it’s better to not suggest answers to that one.

If anything, I would suggest ‘flipping’ the class and ship name… So it’s the USS Janeway, lead ship of the Pioneer Class. Then you could nominally have the USS Pike, USS Sisko, etc.

(Although then you’d run the risk of having too many ships named after famous Captains and Admirals, much like what the USCG ran into with the new Legend Class cutters in RL.)

Again, just IMO. YMMV. :techman:

The class name is... well, officially it's actually the Intrepid Class, it's only known as the Janeway Class for STO (their reasons for changing it are due to game mechanics and well thought out). Yes, she's a 32c Starfleet ship, but for reasons not explained they are reusing class names - hence there is also a 32c Constitution Class as well (known as the Kirk Class in STO).

I used Janeway by mistake, and I apologise for the confusion. Correctly this is a 32c Intrepid Class. The name "Pioneer" works in that case, but I shall ponder the name - I haven't as yet built it into the mesh so it's subject to change.

Hope that helps!

More soon :-)

Since both Voyager and Pioneer were names of unmanned NASA space probe programs I feel like the latter is very much in line with the former.

Really nice to see more of your work!! I get it, taking a break isn't easy. Somehow doing nothing feels weird.

My thinking as well.

Yeah, and as soon as I get back into things, all hell breaks lose. In-laws were involved in an accident. Both ok, but spending time with them to make sure.

More soon.

I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will get well soon.
Thank you. One of those things, one has a cut to the head, the other a bruised back. Added a few more grey hairs to my head when we got the call, sounded worse than it was. Anyways, back at the coal face soon folks.

More later.

Wishing your in-laws a speedy recovery.
Thank you.

Couldn't sleep last night, so knocked up another study to look at, 32c Constitution Class (Kirk Type):

Didn't like the secondary hull they put on it, so created another - keeping within the spirit of the design. Yes, the saucer really is three separate floating parts! Lovely, isn't it?

Anyway some scale renders to give you an idea of the size of these ships:

Comments and the like welcome. More likely tomorrow, or the day after. Hitting the bed to catch up on snoozing.
