Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

Pause everything else (okay, actually I am interested in The Acolyte, Heir to the Empire (I'm just assuming Filoni's movie will be called this, because it makes sense) and Dawn of the Jedi, but still!) and get season 2 into production ASAP, please. While this started off a bit slow, it really took off and it's probably my favorite live action content of the Disney era. Filoni just gets Star Wars.

Also there is too much plot that could be solved too easily with a jetpack.

To me that means the plot needs to be better/smarter. Or else explain why she doesn't have a piece of gear she had. A cool piece of gear at that.

My internal explanation is that it's too expensive to have visuals with her flying around. Special f/x, writing, etc...

I found myself asking all the same questions as everyone else, but also one more. What do the Night Mothers get out of their alliance with Thrawn? Is it just the ride to Dathomir?
Power.

Access to more power.

That is the goal of those who seek power, to bring more and more under their control. Possibly that they can access the Imperial archives and find more secrets from the Sith and perfect their magicks.

But, ultimately, power. And that in of itself is sufficient reason for those who value it.

What struck me most here was how visually dull the action was, and sadly that went for most of the season. We got so many lightsaber fights, probably the most from any single Star Wars project (I'm not going to check), but they just didn't pop off the screen at all. They all looked the same and were shot in the exact same way (was it because of The Volume?) The Ahsoka/Elsbeth fight in the finale was one of the better ones but I never thought a time would come when I'd be bored during a lightsaber duel...

Really thought we'd get some reveal about what Baylan's up to beyond just standing next to a statue.

He looks like he's about to get in an argument with the Ghost Jedi Council.

"They didn't even resolve Baylan's storyline! It's outrageous! It's UNFAIR!"

In the Big Picture? Yeah, probably. But what did Thrawn agree to when he made the alliance in the first place? "You make me zombie stormtroopers and send a message across galaxies for someone to find me and in return, I ..."

Give you access to the archives of the Sith.

How is another matter.

THAT might be it.
This is always the game of those in power. "I promise you more." The ROTS novel did a great job of illustrating this when Palpatine is turning Anakin more fully. "Name anything you want."

Anakin does so and then finally asks the more important question-how? By then it's too late as the promise of power is too enticing to withdraw from. Thrawn need only promise it; he doesn't have to follow through.

With that many Night Sister (bodies) they could resume a seat of power on Dathomir, which was probably a lot stronger in the magicks than Peridea had become. After the Great Mothers get what they want they will likely want to remove themselves from Thrawn's side, and Thrawn may or may not welcome that. Depends what he decides is the best way to regain lost Imperial territory. He might go for controlled zombie starships if he has issues getting crew members. Instead of clone troopers. He still needs to assess what the remaining Imperials have in assets and how many of those assets he can use in his campaign against the New Republic. Thrawn also might attempt to rally the Chiss if he thinks the Empire is still worth the efforts against the Grysk.

The problems will be infighting with the other Imperials. Also the First Order may wish to remain off the table (and certainly the Sith Eternal will remain low key in command via Palpatine's will). But there is a "lost" Super Star Destroyer available in canon, so Thrawn has a potentially very large capital ship option, plus whatever ISD and other larger starships the Empire hid in nebulas, Deep Core, or Unknown Regions.

Not just a ride, he's also helping them move all their "stuff" too! Honestly though a return from exile alone seems like it's more than worth a little necromancy and conjuration. Unlike Sith who are individualistically selfish, Nightsisters can be said to be collectively selfish (for want of a better term.) Few things matter more to a Nightsister than the good of the clan, so reviving it from near extinction would be priceless to them.
Kind of falls apart considering how often we see someone flying around on a jetpack on The Mandalorian.
He's had it taken from him and otherwise rendered irrelevant on more than one occasion, for basically this same reason, and he doesn't have the added advantage of mastery of the Jedi arts.

What a spectacularly, hilariously terrible show.

The finale, true to form, was awful. So much stupid.

So, Ahsoka, as the "padawan of Anakin" was so predictable because she....rode in a straight line to try to find Thrawn. And Thrawn, being the stable tactical genius that he is, outsmarted her by...flying away.

Once on board Thrawn's ship, Ezra did literally nothing. No attempt to sabotage anything, just a quiet escape.

And how did Ezra find the Republic fleet, exactly? And why didn't he, I dunno, radio ahead?!? Instead, he shows up in an imperial ship, still wearing stormtrooper armor with helmet on to disembark into a bunch of Republic goons with guns just for a ....dramatic reveal?

And all Baylan does this episode is visit the Old Man in the Mountain and stare into space. Uh, what? Ray Stevenson, you deserved SO much better. Hey, kids, this is why you don't create entire seasons of TV that are just set up for something else. Good god.

This had some of the most comically incompetent action in SW history. The first lightsaber fight against the troopers was astonishingly inept.

And then we get literal zombies. Sigh. But, despite all the heroes being armed with lightsabers, no one thinks to maybe cut off their damn legs? I was screaming at the screen. Cut off the legs! One leg. A foot, even. I guess the show, being a kids' show on Disney, couldn't be too gruesome. But it was just so, so dumb watching them uselessly hack at the troopers' torsos again and again with no effect.

Morgan Elsbeth. Has there ver been a less intimidating, less charismatic villain in the star wars canon? Nope! What a total snooze. Thrawn is only slightly better by default. The vaunted genius who never does antying remotely impressive or smart other than the most obvious thing.

And, of course, when all is said and done, this show was nothing more than a mindless franchise extension and completely pointless 8 episodes of wheel spinning that exist only to set up a future project. It's the most disposable bit of SW content probably ever.

You could easily skip this and go to whatever is next without missing anything remotely important. (and that's not even mentioning how bad the pacing is, how what little story there is in this show could have easily been told in half the episodes.)

Filoni needs to be put out to pasture yesterday. Despite a body of good work on SW in the past, he's now an embarrassment who's dragging down the franchise as a whole.

How sad that the SW franchise as a whole would be in a much better place if 60% of its recent live action content simply didn't exist.
While this post was inspired by certain posters on this thread, it's meant in more general terms, and is not specifically targeted at them.
I have a piece of advice for you, if you hate a show so much STOP FUCKING WATCHING IT!!!! Seriously, I really don't understand why the hell people keep watching a show when they hate it so much. Why would you choose to torture yourself like that? Why waste time a show you don't like, when there are so many other great shows out there?
And to be honest, it's just annoying as hell when you (generic you, not anyone specific) keep coming back week after week with the exact same complaints, and it distracts from the conversations those of us who like the show are trying to have.
So please, just fucking stop.

The unintended consequences of this trend is that it's going to destroy the long tail of these shows. It kills rewatchability. Look, some amazing shows in the past 20 years have been heavily serialized and some awful shows have taken the wrong lessons from all that.

But particularly with genre shows, it's problematic. Everyone loves going back to rewatch their favorite episodes of Star Trek or TNG or whatever.

Who's going to go back and watch just one episode of Picard or Discovery in a few years? You know, episode 6, which is just....a tiny chunk of story wedged between two other tiny chunks?

As much as I decried the children's book level storytelling of "The Mandalorian", at least those episodes were distinct and each one had a beginning, middle and and end. If you didn't like one, the next one could be different and better.

People will still be watching TOS, TNG, etc. in 30 years. No one is gonna be rewatching Disco or Picard or arguably Ahsoka.
I've got to disagree, there are plenty of serialized shows where I've gone back later and rewatched an entire season. No, you can't just kill an hour with a random episode, but the whole seasons are just as rewatchable as a single episode would be. I'll definitely be rewatching Disco, Picard, and Ahsoka at some point.

That was kind of fun, but I would have liked it better if they did it seriously.
As for droids, they are sliced and diced every which way indiscriminately, even though droids are definitely portrayed as being sentient beings in SW. (Certainly more "alive" than friggin' zombies.)

So, what was your point, again?
Censors have always allowed a lot more violence against robots in kids shows. There are a lot of old cartoons where they made bad guys robots specifically show they could show the heroes using more violent methods to deal with them.
Now my thoughts on the finale.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, just like the rest of the series, but I was a little annoyed by how open ended it was. I knew there was a chance they'd leave some stuff open, but I would have liked the have seen more stuff tied off, since we don't know for sure if we're going to get a second season. I was least hoping we'd get a tight conclusion to Baylan's storyline since that would mean they wouldn't have to deal with Ray Stevenson's death.
The stuff with the zombie troopers was pretty cool.
I loved the fight scene between Morgan and Ahsoka, although I was a little disappointed they killed Morgan, I was hoping she'd stick around.
Having Thrawn and Ezra make it home, while Sabine and Ahsoka were left behind was a nice little reversal of where we started the series.
I almost missed the Morai cameo, I had to let the dogs out and forgot to pause and barely caught a glimpse of her when I went back to the TV.
So the statues were of the Mortis family, I only noticed The Father, and I couldn't figure out why he looked familiar.
I was a little surprised we didn't see Zeb, I hope we get at least one appearance if we get a second season.

A C. S. Lewis inspired episode title in a show dripping with Tolkien influence? Very funny Dave.
I loved every bit of that! From Not Minas Tirith to Not Argonath, the Tolkien influence is strong in this one! :D

Well that clears the chronology of event up somewhat; The Great Purge was at the end of the war, so presumably between tESB & RotJ (hope someone passed that note to the ongoing comics, since that's right where they are at the moment!)
I still hope we'll eventually get to see the Great Purged televised in some fashion and not as a flashback (or series of flashbacks).

Now here's the thing; I've never had any trouble accepting Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine . . . but it's not until the "Lucky Us!" and "What's your excuse?" lines that I could almost swear that was Tiya Sicar's delivery! It's not because Liu Bordizzo hasn't been acting the part until now, it's because Sabine is just now getting back to her old self (similar to what's going on with Ahsoka & Dawson's changed performance.) So I'd call that excellent acting!
This is really an excellent point and I hope even the naysayers will pay attention (even though I know they won't...). I didn't connect with "Lucky us!" but "What's your excuse" hit me hard. You're absolutely right that this was Sabine recentering herself and that speaks volumes about Liu Bordizzo's performance.

Anyone else notice how Morgan got progressivly paler as the fight went on, until she was almost proper Nightsister alabaster white by the end?
Oh, nice catch! I completely missed that.

Ezra pretending to be an Imperial over the comlink, then disguising himself as a Stormtrooper? How utterly unprecidented! ;)
Definitely worth it for the smirk. :D

As for what's on the horizon: well one does recall that both the Father and Son dwelt in towers topped by mysterious glowy crystal things. Curiously though, we never did see the Daughter's own tower . . . eyrie? (Yes yes, there's this whole thing too.)
Ah, of course. I hadn't forgotten about that...

Ezra is such a little drama queen; there's no good reason why he'd keep that helmet on other than to have a dramatic reveal! Nice symmetry with how this whole show started though.
Oh, duh. I knew that felt very familiar. I was just swept up by the emotions of it all (and that was just from Chopper!) to pick up on that.

I love it! :D

I'm a sucker for all of these remaking of opening credits a la 80s style.

Yes and...?

So what?

Why would you choose to torture yourself like that? Why waste time a show you don't like, when there are so many other great shows out there?

You can engage with my comments in a mature, thoughtful way or you can just completely ignore me.

But don't tell me how to spend my fucking time. There are dozens of shows in a given week that are great that I watch. And I have abandoned countless shows that I don't like.

I keep watching (most) Star Wars content because I like the universe. There are some things that were either terrible or just not interesting to me and so I did stop.

Sue me. I'm hopeful every time out that there will be something to enjoy in any given episode, even if that is (quite often) not the case.

So stop being a judgy prick about it. Go about your business.

And to be honest, it's just annoying as hell when you (generic you, not anyone specific) keep coming back week after week with the exact same complaints, and it distracts from the conversations those of us who like the show are trying to have.

Okay, so you only want to discuss things with people who agree with you. Got it. Very mature and enlightened of you.

But at least you have the balls to admit it.
