Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

Ezra's a Jedi but inferring he's an Obi-Wan or Luke kind of threat is a bit much. He's good, but not THAT good.
I didn't see anyone making that specific a comparison, but Ezra was always a prodigy and he's had a decade in the wilderness to hone his connection to the force. So he's pretty much up there with the best of them. Indeed, in terms of sheer training time, he's already had a five year jump on Luke.

Let's also not forget that in order to get to Thrawn the first time around, he had to defeat three Red Guards, Thrawns own guard of Death troopers, and basically anyone standing between the cargo hold and the bridge tower . . . all without a lightsaber. That's not nothing.

Huh, Diana Lee Inosanto, the actress who plays Morgan Elsbeth, was Linda Park's and Kara Zediker's (T'Pau) stunt double in ENT Season 4.
She's apparently a fairly big deal as a martial artists, and her father Dan Insotano was an even bigger deal. He's trained a bunch of big name Hollywood actors, including teaching Bruce Lee how to use nunchaku. And she's also Bruce Lee's goddaughter.

While we're making random connections; the stunt woman for 'Padawan Ahsoka' in 'Part 5' was Rissa Kilar, who played the "pinecone girl" in James "Dawn of the Jedi" Mangold's 'Logan', alongside Dafne "Playing an Alien Jedi in The Acolyte" Keen. Kilar was also a double for young Elektra on 'Daredevil', while Lauren Mary Kim who doubled as adult Elektra, was also the mo-cap stunt performer that played Ahsoka for the Maul fight with Ray Park in Clone Wars Season 7. She's also doubled for Ming Na Wen on both 'Agents of Shield' and 'The Mandalorian', as well as for Sasha Banks, Emily Swallow (yes, that hammer scene*), and Diana Lee Inosanto for the Morgan/Ahsoka fight.
Speaking of 'Daredevil', Aja Frary who was another double for Elektra on that show, also doubled for Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple/Night Nurse character, as well as Indira Varma on 'Kenobi'.

Point being; the Hollywood stunt community is a relatively small pool of people, and you don't have to try that hard to make all kinds interesting connections, because even if everyone doesn't work on every project, everyone probably knows someone who did.

* Side note: pretty sure the trooper saying "hey Mando!" is Sam Witwer, for those still convinced his being credited for 'additional voices' means anything other than just that. I wouldn't be shocked to hear his voice coming out of Thrawn's Night Troopers either.

I didn't realize until recently how often the same stunt performers will double for the same actors across multiple projects. I was reading about a stunt performer recently, and there was a list of movies where they had doubled for the same actor. I guess it makes once you find someone who works well as their double, it makes sense to keep going back to them.

Yeah that's not unusual, especially for the big stars. It seems to be a combination of factors from the obvious "close enough of a likeness", to something as simple as established trust and rapport. I don't really watch his movies, but I think I heard/read somewhere that Dwayne Johnson always uses the same guy (who happens to be his cousin.)

When a stunt performer goes on to become an actor, why do they get their own stunt performer? They could just do the stunts themselves!

Most production companies do not like that. There is too much risk involved with an actor getting hurt, delaying production, and costing them more money. So, the safer bet (from a business standpoint) to not risk the actor.

Tom Cruise is one notable exception, but he also spends a ridiculous amount of money to do his own stunts sometimes, then uses stunt men other times. Jackie Chan a more famous example, and others.

Danny Trejo in particular has been very vocal about that. Plus every stunt the star does is less money for the stunt performer.

I recall an anecdote from somewhere of Harrison Ford's double on Raiders having to quietly pull him aside when he kept wanting to do the stunts himself, and explain the economics of it to him. For which Ford apparently apologised immediately, and from then on let the stunt performers do as many of the shots as possible.

Moreover; the insurance companies typically aren't wild about this kind of thing either.

Cool! Band is back together!
and Thrawn.. being Thrawn..
Would have been a good moment to Recast Leia, and have her come into the senate hearing.. but owell..
Sometimes i REALLY wish this was a cartoon sequal.. owell..

they cast REALLY well for Ezra.. he's doing great.

An okay episode. Didn’t really progress the episode. Seeing Threepio is fine but where is Luke? I’m pretty sure all this news would interest him. He can do whatever he wants.
Ezra not wanting the lightsaber was odd but I assume they are waiting until the finale for that moment.
