Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

I feel like Ahsoka's fighting is too slow. I don't blame Dawson; normal people ( actors, etc ) wouldn't usually be expected to move like a swordmaster or a Jedi.

I really think they should cast Millie Bobbie Brown as Leia going forward. I know there's a lot of love for Bille Lourd, but that's my opinion. Take the plunge as well and grab Sebastian Stan as Luke.

Who the hell is this Senator Xiomo, why is he such a dick, and what is this boner he has for Hera?

I've got about 9 minutes of this left to watch. My wife commandeered the TV last night, cursing me for a geek. The nerve!

I think Millie Bobbie Brown is much too young. We're now like a decade or so after A New Hope. Mille Bobbie Brown is around the age Carrie Fisher was *IN* that first movie. We don't need a almost teenage Leia at this point in the timeline.

Or, they could have just brought back Alden as Han to walk in.. Nice to see C-3PO though

But honestly, Recast Luke, Leia.. There to important to not see them. The Fake Luke was cool and all.. but move on.

Just thinking looking at Sabine's face. It was nice that her captors let her keep her makeup kit when they took her into custody so she could keep applying her eyeliner and everything.

Just because an actor looks the part, doesn't mean they're right for the role. While she's great at what she does, nothing I've seen of MBB's work exactly screams "Carrie Fisher."

Who's your choice, then? And no, it can't be the actress from Obi-wan Kenobi. If Brown is too young, well, then...

The problem is that these things get dragged out until actors are too old. Look at the Pine and Quinto and co. Easier to cast younger actors and make them seem older, than it is to de-age older actors with VFX. Also, given that Luke and Leia are Jedi, younger, more physically capable actors would seem to be the order of the day.

don't know why seeing these gunships in live action is so pleasing to me. Maybe because they're a remnant of 1313 (and I think 'Underworld' too?) and I've always enjoyed the design.
They actually first appeared in clonewars as courescant police vehicles, then reappeared in rebels as imperial dropships. First time in live action.
Though to be honest, i prefer the dropships seen with the security forces from Andor.

Okay, finally finished Ep 7.

There seems to be a lot of strategic ambiguity here.

On Ahsoka's part: she appears to have 'lost the game' so to speak, as soon as the Eye of Sion made the jump from Seatos. Her goal was to prevent Thrawn's return- she doesn't have the resources to stop it, now. So what was her intent by following them? To rescue Sabine? Find Ezra? Why engage Baylan again at all? That made ZERO sense.

On Thrawn's part: Does he want to destroy Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra, or strand them and make them irrelevant? Whichever answer you like, he's been completely half-assed about it. If he was going to strand them, he should ignore them completely, marshal his scant resources, and concentrate on his departure. Ahsoka was effectively neutralized, hiding in the debris. What purpose was served by 'flushing her out' other than allowing her to reunite with her allies, and provide the latter with a means of transport? If he wants to destroy them, he should have sent a squadron of TIE Fighters, another of TIE Bombers, and a battalion of stormtroopers. An aerial bombardment with even one of the bombs used on Mandalore would have vaporized the lot of them. The cardinal rule of military engagements is to amass sufficient forces to secure victory at the point of contact. Thrawn knows how dangerous Jedi are. As a strategic 'genius' he is falling far short here.

The only real question now is how do the good guys get back to the home galaxy? Are the whales coming back? Do they hitch a ride somehow with Thrawn? Some other way?

Couple other notes:

I like the uniform Hera and Carson wore on Coruscant. Looks good on both of them.
C3P0 is always a nostalgia blast, but didn't need to see him here- would much rather have had an appearance by Leia herself.
I totally think Shin is conflicted. She can be made into a Jedi, if the opportunities present.
Who knows what the hell is going on with Baylan- maybe that's one answer we can get in the finale.
This senator who has it in for Hera- what gives with this douchebag? Is he an Imperial?
Genevieve Reilly wins the crossover award for SW TV. She's in everything, and awesome in everything she's in.

I have to say, with only one episode to go, overall, I have been disappointed with this series. It's been slow, dull, and has no coherent story except as a bridge between material many have never seen and stuff yet to come. It doesn't stand well on its own, and a show should do that. Rebels Season 5 is not the best season of Rebels. ;) We'll see where they go from here.

How much you wanna bet he made those 20-odd recordings to give himself more time to sneak off an visit Padme more often, rather that actually supervise his pupil?
Rex and Obi Wan covering for him was a favorite in TCW :D
Huyang & Ahsoka's patter continues to be one of the highlights of this show. That is all.
David Tenant is freaking awesome. He plays Huyang's exasperation soooo well.
Yeah, that's going to bug me somewhat. Star Wars is always a little wishy-washy on the chronology (and that's fine) but it's starting to strain credibility how little time has supposedly passed since season 1 of Mando, and yet how much time should have passed.
I think that Ahsoka is running mostly concurrently with Mando S3, maybe a few months ahead at most. The retaking of Mandalore is very very recent.

Ahsoka's intent to follow is basically two folded - rescue Sabine and Ezra but also prevent Thrawn's return somehow. I wonder if she even has a plan how to do it - a small personal ship against an entire Star Destroyer, even in such a sorry state, are odds that defy even Star Wars and Jedi. If it's a direct confronation she needs at least a capital ship to stop the Chimaera.

I can only figure that Thrawn is simply keeping her off balance with his actions, prevent her from mounting a concentrated effort while he prepares to jump back somehow. As he said himself one small group is irrelevant to the grand scheme of things ( and it should be in "reality" but this is Star Wars where small groups of heroes regularly ruin grand plans). I figure his attack orders alsp meant that they could have landed some lucky shots, the bombardment from the ring ship looked serious enough to take out Ahsoka's ship with a direct hit. It cost him next to nothing but if he's written as in the novels even in defeat he will learn something about his opponent and Thrawn doesn't make mistakes twice.
Sending out a huge attack force to take out 3 people is maybe not something that usually warrants such attention and especially not with a force that is in a dire need of retrofit and repair. The force he sent should have been enough but this is science fiction and general fiction writing where heroes make it through against all forces and especially with Star Wars there's the Stormtrooper shooting skills, which means grandma's will survive a barrage of shots ;)

How do they get back? I can only guess but i figure the main problem was only navigation, i.e. there are no star charts to this foreign galaxy so there is no way to plot a course back until Morgan arrived with the data from the map. I don't believe they need special hyperdrives to make it back to their galaxy and the Whales sure won't help anymore after running into that minefield.

With Shin i disagree - as Baylon said she is ambitious and that way lies ruin. If she had a Sith Master she'd be a full Sith because she lacks the compassion, calm and general attitude that makes Jedi. If nothing else happens and she survives she'll be a rogue mercenary with Jedi training and that's all she'll ever be. Maybe she'll carve out a niche of her own or one day she encounters an enemy who's better than her and it will be her end. Biggest waste will however be Baylon - he seems very interesting but the show never made the effort of fleshing him out and now that Stevenson is dead they will not get the chance to use him further ( if he doesn't die in the season finale) unless they recast. It would be a shame because i would like to see a former Jedi explored who's not turned Dark Side and became a Sith, that's rare in Star Wars mainstream canon ( not counting the books and comics).

Apart from some episodes overall i agree with you - there's so many open questions that i don't feel we will have a satisfying resolution in just one season finale episode. Being used as a bridge show to something else really hurt it when you consider the entire season, it was "just" Rebels season 5 and if you're not a fan of Rebels or hasnÄt even seen it many of the elements simply don't fall into place.

I'm entertained although not in the same way that a show like the Mandalorian entertained me. I also have a feeling that the final episode isn't going to have much of a satisfying conclusion, rather it will be a great cliffhanger that might be years away from being resolved.

No.

Overall, I really liked this episode, loved the action, was impressed by Ezra (which surprised me) found the stakes suitably entertaining and expect next week to be more of the same. Enjoyable, entertaining and well done.

They actually first appeared in clonewars as courescant police vehicles
The Episode guide for that Clone Wars episode says that the design originated from a different project, but they don't say what project.

So while you're correct that it first appeared in that episode, it didn't originate in Clone Wars, which is what Reverend was saying.
