9/10 Wasn't expecting a Voyager tribute episode in the vein of the DS9 episode, but it was great even without the presence of actors from the show. The use of props, creatures, and holodeck characters really underscored how much of a character the hero ship itself can be.

This was such a fun episode!

A lot of VOYAGER love here, and I'm glad they did it.

All the cardboard props of the crew, Neelix's cheese, the macrovirus, salamanders, being 'Tuvixed'... all well done.

I wonder what that ship was at the end. Could it be some dangerous kind of probe, like Nomad was? That would explain why the whale probe from STAR TREK IV is in the theme now... a probe representing the overall arc for the season.

Great start to the season. I gave this a 9.

Hello TrekBBS friends, I am back once again with my annual question about every episode of Lower Decks:

My daughter, who is now ten, really loves LD and loves to watch it with us on Friday nights. The only episode she has missed is "Where Pleasant Fountains Lie" due to the high level of sexual content, and I like to check in with the BBS before each episode to make sure there's nothing too bad for a 10YO in each week's ep.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything too objectionable (meaning too violent or sexual) in this week's ep? No need to spoil, just let me know if it would make me a bad parent to watch this ep with her!

Thanks so much.

I enjoyed both episodes, but I would have enjoyed them more on my Fire TV, on which I could never get past the Paramount + logo, even after force-quitting the app and clearing the cache. I don't have this kind of trouble with any of my other apps.:brickwall:
PP+ has the worst app of any I’ve used.

The first episode she should be okay but the second has quite a violent creature that might scare her.

I loved this episode and the callback to the controversial Tuvix episode of Voyager. Personally, I was horrified by what Janeway did in that episode, so I'm glad the characters commented on how it was straight up murder. I understand it is a complex issue though, as Janeway didn't have the resources in the Delta Quadrant to save Tuvix, and she saved two valuable crew members by slaughtering Tuvix. I loved all the Voyager callbacks. This was a great way to start the season. And I'm looking forward to learning more about the season's presumable big bad introduced at the end of the episode.

I was oddly disappointed we didn't see the EMH. It almost seemed like a perfect opportunity.

Much like how Bozeman was shown being converted into an amusement park, I would totally expect a Voyager "museum" to go exactly this way in the Lower Decks world. It's just all thrill rides that bring back some of the crew's wildest adventures from their time in the Delta Quadrant.

I thought that this was a great episode. Maybe it wouldn't be as good for people who don't have fond feelings of Voyager, but I've always had a soft spot for that admittedly very stupid, and frequently mediocre, show. I have always been on the side of Tuvok and Neelix deserved to live more then Tuvix, and never really liked the Voyager episode much anyway, but leave it to lower decks to take the idea to such absurd lengths that it ends up being hilarious. All the other references were great too, I especially liked the Macro organism and Fair Haven references.

Great episode, great way to kick off the season.

I will admit I am kinda getting tired of the “hero-worship” Voyager gets across all of nu-Trek (save for SNW obviously). Thankfully Lower Decks handled it pretty perfectly.

sad to see the Klingon Lower Deckers dispatched so easily.

love the idea of promoting them all (save for Rutherford). It should be a nice dynamic shift.

also love adding the whale probe to the opening credits.

no real knocks on the episode. Anything would be a nitpick.

I’ll give it a 8/10.
