Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

Eh. There's several elements of the way that novel interprets certain things that I just can't get behind, so I really don't rate it as highly as some seem to. Plus that's a whole other discussion.
The whole novel?

No, of course not.

I said that it explains the fall of the Jedi better than the films do. That is all.

I am not sure what the movie did wrong and the novel did right because the opening in the novel has a lot of cheer moments and a very interesting lightsaber fight, but the movies early cheers are all for R2, and the lightsaber duel isn't nearly as enjoyable.

The duel between Kenobi/Anakin vs. Dooku in the novel is one of the best ever, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, it ended up quite edited as Lucas had to edit down the final film.

I loved Obi-wan calling Dooku's taunt and switching styles mid-fight to a point where Dooku not only needs to really duel but also feels he might actually lose.

A couple of thoughts occur to me as I rewatch the first two episodes before tonight's:

1. When Ahsoka tells Sabine about the map, where she found it, and how it could lead to Ezra, she doesn't say anything about two Force wielders who broke out Morgan Elsbeth and who could be potentially seeking the map, too. Which made me realize that when Sabine went to grab her lightsaber to retrieve the stolen map, she didn't actually expect to be fighting someone who also had one. All she knew were some droid mercenaries robbed her.

2. This might be just me projecting, but watching Shin's body language and interacting with Baylan made me think of a young Ahsoka, but more twisted and hungry. That's probably intentional but I didn't pick up on that the first time around.

For anyone who collects Star Wars action figures today was a Hasbro Livestream and new Ahsoka figures from the Vintage Collection were revealed:

Huy still steals every scene he's in..

CHOPPER! and JACEN! Why isn't he green?? :p

Typical Senate BS.. Oh we'll just wait.. for shat to hit the fan before we do anything..

So.. Its not a stargate.. but basically a big engine..

So.. Extragalactic lanes? Since When? .. hehe..

Fun.. but Short one

Episode 3 was fine but it was barely 30 minutes. I wish these streaming shows had more consistent times. They should be at least 40 minutes in length.
I’m not the biggest fan of them getting communications in hyperspace. That was never a thing in the old EU. Just makes more sense in my mind that it wouldn’t work.
so is Hera’s kid Freddie Prince JR’s? Wouldn’t he look more Twi’lek?

"I don't need Sabine to be a Jedi. I need her to be herself."

I freely admit that when I saw the runtime for this episode, I was disappointed...but this episode did not disappoint.

Even though we knew they would be appearing, between the trailers and last episode's foreshadowing, it was still magnificent to see the Purrgil abruptly appear in the upper atmosphere of Seatos to help Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang escape from Shin and company. I've always loved a space whale (excuse me, Huyang, star whale) so it's absolutely breathtaking to see the Purrgil fully realized in live action. I loved them in Rebels and I love them here. I can't wait to see more Purrgil. :D

The other big highlight of the episode was the wonderful training sequence Sabine goes through. Not only was it such a joy to see Sabine train again (with all of the frustrations that come with it), but seeing Ahsoka training someone in the ways of the Jedi brought such a big smile to my face. She has truly come so far. She may not have wanted to train Grogu (and her previous experience with Sabine was probably part of that reason) but she looked so at ease in leading Sabine down that path. I hope we continue see more scenes like this throughout the season and not simply regulating them to training montages. Ahsoka has stressed the importance of that training taking time and patience and I really hope the show follows through with that advice.

Glad to finally see Jacen as well as Chancellor Mon Mothma, even if it meant Hera's inevitably futile argument for help at Seatos. We already knew the New Republic would be weak and turn a blind, but it was still painful to watch it up close. Didn't help dealing with an arrogant senator who only cared to use Hera's sorrow against her.

It goes without saying that Huyang continues to steal every damn scene he's in and it's clear David Tennant is have the time of his life. The world needs more Huyang.

Lastly, I loved the callbacks to Episode IV, from the blind training mask (if utilized differently here) to Sabine's "Don't get cocky, kid!" moment to a good old-fashioned space dogfight.

For not much longer than 30 minutes that episode delivered. I wish some of the other streaming series' episodes with such short running times were typically as successful. I'm looking forward to next week.

We also get to see the father of Kaz from Resistance, a well-deserved shout-out to Dave Filoni's work on that woefully short-lived series from the Sequel Trilogy Era. Chancellor Mon Mothma was a lot of fun to watch as her hologram appeared in the same hall where seven years before she had conducted the Rebel briefing with Admiral Ackbar.

I had the same thought, but I think that was how he looked at the end of Rebels.
I loved the training scene, it really felt like something out of a martial arts movie.
Ahsoka going out and fighting off Shin & Co. with her lightsabers was pretty cool.
I didn't watch any of the clips or anything for this one, so the purgils showing up was a huge shock. I loved seeing a more realistic take on them.

I would actually love for Huyang to meet AP-5.

Ahsoka going out onto the hull to fight the enemy fighters was a badass scene and calls back to Ezra doing something similar in the episode that first introduced the purgil.

Is Huyang a puppet? At first I had assumed he was CGI, but the more I see of him the more realistic he looks.
