Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

Is that masked Inquisitor going to be Ezra? Are they going with a Tron/Rinzler story?

If there was a way for Ezra to be sent back from wherever he wound up with Thrawn, then there would be no need for them to go get Thrawn.

I think an Inquisitor is just an Inquisitor. He's showing how strange the bedfellows are in this equation.

Two ex-Jedi, an Inquisitor and a Nightsister walk into a bar...

It was a bit weird they didn't mention Luke. They act like Ashoka is the only one who can train her. Luke is far more powerful and would have been more useful.
Then again he may be too OP for this show. They need 8 episodes after all

I could barely finish the first episode. Haven't watched the second.

But, holy hell, did that suuuuuck!

My expectations were low, but I at least expected some level of baseline competence.

That was just a complete and utter whiff.

Bad acting. MEW being the worst, but Dawson wasn't far behind. Sabine was okay.

Seriously bad writing. Some awful dialogue.

Terrible pacing. Just atrociously slow and boring. Absolutely no stakes except for the vague b.s. about "another war!'" coming.

Nothing felt remotely personal to anyone. Laborious exposition did nothing to endear these characters. Everything relevant or interesting happened in the past, either in Rebels or in the unseen years in between.

How unbelievably dumb was that Republic captain, BTW?

The scene in the temple was soo slow and boring and lacking in anything approaching suspense or intrigue. Ditto Sabine's "deciphering" of the map, which looked less complicated than solving a Rubik's cube.

So much lazy writing, so many shortcuts, so many unanswered questions.

"Sabine can help decipher the map!" Uh, why? What's special about her? No explanation.

"This ancient, thousand-year-old map will help us find a guy who's been missing for 6 years!" Uh, it will? HOW?!

While Book of Boba Fett was obviously an atrocious show, I think this is an even worse debut episode.

Seriously, who the hell asked for this?

Umm, all the fans who have loved Ahsoka for over a decade?
Loved these first two episodes. I'm really liking Mary Elizabeth Winstead's take on Hera and Natasha Liu Bordizzo's Sabine, they might not be exactly recreations of their animated counterparts, but they're close enough for me, and their overall performances were good.
Clany Brown showing up as his Rebels character was a fun surprise.
I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a Zeb appearance, but I'm still holding out hope we'll see him eventually.
The reveal that Morgan Elsbeth is a Night Sister was a surprise.
I'm curious if we're going to learn more about what happened to Baylan Skoll between the end of the Clone Wars and now.
I loved seeing Lothal in live action, they did a great job with it.
I'm a big fan of Peter Jacobson so I got a kick out of seeing him as Weaver.

They address this in the second episode.
"This ancient, thousand-year-old map will help us find a guy who's been missing for 6 years!" Uh, it will? HOW?!
This too.
As a general rule, when you're watching a show with a continuing arc, you shouldn't get pissed if they don't explain everything in the first episode.

It's actually pretty shitty storytelling to needlessly withhold crucial information from the audience for no reason. This was originally supposed to air as one episode with a week gap before the "explanation."

If Sabine is an expert in deciphering magic maps, that's not something you hold in your back pocket for no damn reason, particularly when the entire story hinges on it. "Ooh, scary bad guy might come back! This seemingly random, unrelated thing will tell us how....eventually!" The audience shouldn't be so far behind the characters.

Even in serialized storytelling, a single episode should still be able to function.

It's not my fault that they don't know how to write properly.

I was trying to get the 'this ancient map actually tells us where Thrawn ended up 10 years ago.' bit.

I guess it will be the space whales initiated some type of beyond-galaxy hyperspace jump and the ancient map is the only thing that knows about getting to the other galaxy and possibly following them from the other galaxy is how that ancient race initially got to the Star Wars galaxy.

Hmm, it was a little slow for me and I thought some areas could do with a little more polishing. But I'm interested to see how it plays out if it could move a bit faster.
Thought it's weird that a map to a non Jedi character would be at a temple. Why is Thrawn so important that there would be a map leading to him at an ancient knight sister's temple? He's not on an Emperor level of mysticism. And it does feel like we've done this already in TFA.

Loved it. You didn’t. I don’t have to write about it though. I’ll just enjoy the next 6 weeks.

I thought I'd give it a go but I just thought it was slow - even looking at the comments here much of it is about how it's great to see old character X,Y and Z. I've never seen rebels so none of that works for me.

So do I need to watch the cartoon to understand whats going on or to enjoy yhis better?
Not really, but context does help. Suffice to say that several of the main characters fought against the Empire in the early days if the rebellion and one of them, Jedi padwan (unofficial) Ezra, sacrificed himself to supposedly destroy Grand Admiral Thrawn. But there is hope that Ezra will return.

Short answer.. Yes. There's an Ahsoka "Needed Episodes" in Disney Plus if you want to go thath route. But honestly, just watch All of Rebels. Great show.

I’ve seen several reviews saying they understood it fine without watching rebels.
Will you get more fulfilment watching rebels? Perhaps, but it’s not needed watching. There is enough exposition to watch it without seeing Rebels.

You can see the purgil in the art of the map. So yeah, they’re trying to follow them.

Loved every second of it and I need more now!

So wonderful to see all of these characters again, but I especially loved seeing the strained relationship between Ahsoka and Sabine. Even though this show is essentially a direct sequel to Rebels, the show stands on its own, clearly laying out the land for those unfamiliar with Rebels while also providing new background such as the unseen apprenticeship of Sabine. I'm very excited to learn more about her training with Ahsoka and why Ahsoka decided to walk away. I'm also curious to learn more about Baylan and his motivations from straying from the Jedi.

I loved reuniting with old friends. From the anticipated Chopper, Hera, and Huyang (and Phantom!) to the very surprising appearances of Ryder Azadi and Senator Jai Kell! I think I just about lost it when I heard Clancy Brown's distinctive voice. We know more old friends and foes are returning and I cannot wait to see them again, and I cannot help but wonder if there are any more surprises to come.

The tribute to Ray at the end of the first episode left me in tears. :( :weep: :wah:

(Edited to add that I loved seeing Peter Jacobson popping up as a bureaucrat still loyal to the Empire)
