Jayru (JSnaith's) 3D Trek

I looked at those first images and thought 'what's pinched'? After the second set I saw. Great work. It flows better this way, less stubby.

Thank you! I agree, it's less stubby. I moved the nacelles back as well, and did some work on the pylons. It balances the ship better I think.

General disposition of the decks -

And a side by side comparison of the original USS Ranger next to the USS Ranger-A -

More soon!

Thank you - whilst my Ingram is effectively gone, I have built this in it's place;

It does have some Ingram DNA in it, but it's more mine than Todd's ;-)

I believe that someone else has done a bang up job of building an accurate Ingram model.

Nice!

May not seem a lot, but the secondary hull has been tapered, deflector dish added, torp bays added and the shield grid built in. The next stage is more fun; texturing, windows and rooms and layering up detail. But lets face it, I love doing this stuff.

Thoughts on how the Ranger Class fits in with the fleet -

I personally see this as the step between the Ambassador and Galaxy Class - possibly serving as a test-bed for the upcoming Galaxy. That this came in between the two classes and was named after a previous ship tells me that the crew of the USS Ranger NCC-21179 did something interesting. What? I do not know. But it must have been good to a: lose a ship, and b: get a new one with the same name and reg (with the "A" suffix). Size wise, she has 31 decks, and a length of 472meters. She's the biggest ship I've built so far, and the most complex (all those rooms behind the windows...).

Anyways, enough waffle from me, back to the grind! More later :-)

What I really love here is, that at first quick glance while scrolling you're thinking 'sure, Ambassador class'.....
Then you look again, and you realize...... WOW....... So much going on. And that's brilliant. It's straight away a Starfleet design, but with many unique little attributes. I love that.

Thank you - to be fair, I did lift the Warp Nacelles straight off my Ambassador Class model. I think maybe I should do something different for this ship. But they work.

You could tweak them I suppose, slightly different bussard collectors, some new details. But as you said, they work.

I think for the time being I'm going to leave them alone. Been thinking, and it occurs to me that just like in the pre TNG days when starships shared components, why shouldn't TNG era ships? It could well be that the nacelles are standard. Mind you, as much as I like that idea, my brain is shifting through design ideas for new ones. But I'd thought I'd through this out there for all to ponder on :-)

On to other ship related news - the lower saucer has been bugging me, and I know why. I missed a row of windows! I'll fix that, then get back to the engineering hull!

More later :-)
