It's "inspired" by the Titan Class in Star Trek Online. It's an ok design (nice ship to fly), but it has some issues. I think they scaled it too small. BUT that's my opinion. I'm going to do my own, and see where it takes me :-)
Snuck in a bit more work on the study model before I handed over my drive (which enforces down time, need to let my brain cool off, lol). This is what I will come back to and hit the ground running with - Of course, being as study model it doesn't mean that anything is final, and most of this will be refined and rebuilt. That's how I work. But it's as good as a method as any. Anyway, off to enjoy my holiday. Keep well, stay safe, and see you all soon!
Thank you. Got my drive back this morning, my brain is considered less fizzy than it was, so safe to continue! Have worked on the study model, and finalised the hull shape. Tweaks will happen I have no doubt, but this is the jumping off point - And for those interested - here is the image that inspired this - More later!
Updates - all the phaser arrays have been added, as well as the torpedo launchers, plus I rebuilt the nacelles. Have a feeling they are going to be where I start major work - Currently measures 373m long. That may change. More soon!
I like the parallel nacelle alignment, was never a big fan of the low-slung look on the original. Is the pod going to stay attached in that design (a single piece) or will it go to a more roll-bar look? Personally, I say stick with solid.
I plan to keep the basic shape as I have it - the nacelles where they are, and the sensor pod attacked by a single pillar.
Thank you! I know I'm breaking a few rules - especially with the nacelles, but I didn't design the original (and several on screen ships have broken the rules, so I'm not going to worry to much), but I like the "feel" of this one. Updates - the nacelles and pylons are done and locked - Enjoy, comments always welcome - and more soon!
Updates - slow day today, bank holiday here so been out enjoying myself, but I have started work on the secondary hull... More soon!
Thank you! It's an interesting design choice! Thank you! Sorry for lack of updates, been playing Starfield - and enjoying the heck out if it. But back at the grind, lets get some more work on the NCC-80110 :-)
Awesome game, and I have been enjoying it. Project update: I have hit a snag with current ship. The geometry of the secondary hull is causing a lot of problems when it comes to cutting in windows. I've rebuilt it a couple of different ways to try and get round the issue, but to no avail. The actual game model has no windows on the secondary hull, and I am beginning to think they had the same problem and opted for something simpler - having no windows. I need to have a think about this, and whether I can see this ship through to the end, or write it off as a learning experience. But I am not done 3Ding yet. More soon :-)
Rethink of the Luna-esq mesh - new study model: This is a more hybrid design of the original Luna and the STO Titan. And it presents less geometry issues than the first take. Comments and the like very welcome. More soon.
Seemed logical at the time. Refining the shapes at the mo, before I start the detailed work. Secondary Hull has been rejigged to get rid of the "flat top" I left on it. The rest of the changes will be about balancing the design. More soon
