Now they need to release the karaoke version. Just cuz, y'know. No reason.
Yep, no reason at all....

Internet, I love you!

OMG! That's awesome!

I'm not getting the dislike for Keeping Secrets. Maybe it doesn't hit as well if you only hear the half of it that is in the episode? I think it's better than Connect to Your Truth AND How Would that Feel.

Oh and the CC misidentifies Uhura's singing at the end as Keep Us Connected. We all know it's I'm Ready / I'm the X, right?

I wouldn't strictly say I "dislike" it, it's just the weakest in a sort-of "something has to be" kind of way. Of all the songs in the episode and in the soundtrack it's the one that clicks with me the least.

I think it hits you differently depending upon your life experience. I adore it, because keeping secrets is something I've had to do my whole life. Living in fear of the people you care about suddenly knowing everything about you, the parts of you that you're afraid to let go and be free, especially.

I can't put the damn soundtrack down. It's now my go-to when I'm listening in the car. I go to bed at night with "Status Report" in my head.
You're lucky! The short little Klingon song has been on repeat in my brain! I enjoy it, it's just unfortunate that it was so short.

The soundtrack is amazing though, I'm really hoping for a physical copy to come out. Even a bonus disk in the (hopefully) upcoming season set would be a nice touch, it would be pretty much an automatic order for me.

I don't know if you've noticed in my signature, but as of this post I have watched the Klingon K-Pop scene 425 times.

I was on mobile when I posted, so I hadn't seen the signature, but I see it now. That is quite a few times, I'm nowhere near that high! I haven't kept track, but I've listened to La'an's song quite a few times. Una and Spock's songs are the next two on my favorite list for right now.

Going by Last.FM and figuring that I have listened on devices that aren't scrobbling, it looks like I've listened to I'm the X twice as much as everything else. And Private Conversation half as much.

So. I just bought the soundtrack. And have now been listening to it obsessively.

Damn. Christina and Celia are AMAZING. And the songs are SO GOOD.

And... they're in my range.

They're both trained vocalists, I believe. SNW had a lot of strong singers in its cast. Even the non-singers made their part work.

Now they need to release the karaoke version. Just cuz, y'know. No reason.

I would definitely buy the Karaoke version

As would I.

I’ve been listening to the episode soundtrack on repeat today. Just so catchy. I think La’an’s solo has become my favorite with Uhura’s solo following VERY closely.

My earworm is the grand finale.

Some of you are real optimists. I think the Christine-Spock romance is as dead as the human Korby.

Well, we knew it couldn't last due to TOS. That's the problem with prequels: they're limited to future canon.

Was Uhura's "Earworm" comment a subtle "Wrath of Khan" reference?
Probably not.

Question: Why is Ensign Uhura the "voice of the Enterprise"? She's awesome and wonderful and we love her. But doesn't someone else have what is going to be her future job as lead communications officer (or whatever the title is)?

I get that she's the one who solved the problem. And she's Celia Rose Gooding and a lead in our show.

That's one of the downsides of including Uhura in this cast that underlines a problem that developed after Wrath of Khan: These people all sat down in their chairs in their 30s (and now we find out, their 20s) and never left. They had a moment in Wrath of Khan where some of them had posts off of the Enterprise. Even without the deleted scene talking about Excelsior Sulu seems to be doing other things. Chekov is first officer somewhere else. Then in Search for Spock you've got Chekov asking "Will we get another ship?" Dude! You're not even on the Enterprise anymore!

A lot gets past Boimler.

By "a lot" I mean a Whole Fucking Lot. By a Whole Fucking Lot I mean, like, everything. His job on LD is literally to have everything going on around him explained by people who have any clue at all.

He'd read Spock's autobiography with preposterously ideal notions of the man in his head and miss every scrap of subtext that didn't fit his preconceived ideas.
That makes Boimler the fictional representation of the literal real world Trekkie. :techman:

I've done some experiments with this and I simply can't keep up with Christina in 'How Would That Feel?', her pipes are too powerful!
It is difficult, I agree. I can stay with everyone except Celia Rose Gooding, mainly when she moves up a step during the transition in the coda from "Keep Us Connected." At that point, I just have to take a backup harmony position because damn.

It's amazing how the same melody works so differently for I'm Ready and I'm the X.

Bush singing "A distant dream becoming REAL" doesn't have the same THUNK that Peck does when he sings "I can't believe how wrong I've BEEN" and his voice drops down into full Spock. They pitched it so perfectly.

And yes, it's SO much fun to sing.
