Do you think we will see Doctor Boyce in season 2?

I've seen the scene a bunch of times. It's a very olden days manly exchange. But the relationship is nicely drawn.

Why are people assuming Number One is in love with Pike? They seem to be close friends and colleagues who've known each other for years. She isn't holding a torch for him or anything like that...

Maybe because of this line from The Keeper that is in both TOS The Cage, and The Menagerie:

"...The female you call Number One has the superior mind and would produce highly intelligent children. Although she seems to lack emotion, this is largely a pretense. She has often has fantasies involving you."

I'm just going to dismiss this as a problem with the Keepers not knowing how humans work. I mean they couldn't even put Vina back together in the right arrangement.
IDK - They didn't know how to put her back together because they couldn't read her mind when she was comatose. After 13 years or so of 'picking her brain' (literally ;)), I think they have a decent idea at least of how female emotions work - and Number One is female.:whistle:

I feel like you're being willfully obtuse. It was a joke challenging your assumptions about how the Trek of the 20th century should be reflected in the Trek of the 21st. We have to let go of some outdated notions (or at least I do, as a woman) or I couldn't watch this show at all.

Yes, but you have to let go of notions while keeping the appropriate notions.

I trust you can see the difference ;)

Fantasies are an entirely normal and proper part of life. If you have a fantasy about somebody, it doesn't necessarily mean you're actively trying to get with them, or that you're in love with them. It''s just..a fantasy! Everybody has them. And there's no shame in that.

Bernd Schneider updated his website with his review of this week's episode https://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/episodes/snw2.htm#amongthelotuseaters and pointed out "The reimagined Enterprise has a huge sickbay, much like a hospital with a bed for every single crew member if necessary. But apparently just one single doctor, and none at all when he is on an away mission."

If they wanted to show Boyce, this week's episode would've been the prime opportunity to do so.
