No, Dr. Shady will appear in Season 3 of the series.
Once he stands up.No, Dr. Shady will appear in Season 3 of the series.
The point is there isn't only one way to practice medicine. Bias is showing.sounds shady
edit:looking it up, yep, shady as fuck
well, there's one way that's scientifically proven. and then there are con artistsOnce he stands up.

I suppose traditional Chinese medicine is also a con?well, there's one way that's scientifically proven. and then there are con artists
yes, a lot of TCM is pure pseudoscience. also, what most people understand as TCM nowadays has nothing to do with medicine in traditional China anyway, what is called "Traditional Chinese Medicine" and practiced today in China and the West is not thousands of years old, but recently constructed using selected traditional terms, some of which have been taken out of context, some badly misunderstood.I suppose traditional Chinese medicine is also a con?
Duly noted.yes, a lot of TCM is pure pseudoscience. also, what most people understand as TCM nowadays has nothing to do with medicine in traditional China anyway, what is called "Traditional Chinese Medicine" and practiced today in China and the West is not thousands of years old, but recently constructed using selected traditional terms, some of which have been taken out of context, some badly misunderstood.
You mistake me for someone who doesn't due research on everything.also, after 3 years of absolute morons turning their backs on evidence based science in favor of esoteric bullshit, I have absolute zero tolerance for this kind of BS
on that we can agree on. on "alternative" ways of medicine, we can notBut the idea that only doctors can practice is bullshit as well, given the prevalence of ARNPs and PAs and such across the profession.
I noted that they were out there. That there is more than one type of healers and medicine in human culture. It's up to a person to decide what they will use.on that we can agree on. on "alternative" ways of medicine, we can not
Yes to the latter two. EXTREMELY HARD NO to the first.Or naturopaths, or even Physician's Assistants, or Nurse Practicioners.
Yeah, ok. Damn. People are mad today.Yes to the latter two. EXTREMELY HARD NO to the first.
I noted that they were out there. That there is more than one type of healers and medicine in human culture. It's up to a person to decide what they will use.
Do I agree with it? No. That's not the point.
I too have zero tolerance for non-evidence based thinking regarding medicine, and anything more generally that’s not not rooted in creative fiction. I’ll leave it at that as this is not the appropriate forum for delving more deeply in the subject.Yeah, ok. Damn. People are mad today.
I've seen the scene a bunch of times. It's a very olden days manly exchange. But the relationship is nicely drawn.
Why are people assuming Number One is in love with Pike? They seem to be close friends and colleagues who've known each other for years. She isn't holding a torch for him or anything like that. Men and women, men and men, women and women, theys and thems, can love each other without ever wanting to jump bones. And this is coming from someone rubbing hands together in gleeful anticipation of the T'Pring/Spock/Chapel mess she hopes to get.
Agreed. I'll never understand some fan's desires to have everyone on the show sleeping with each other. It isn't realistic as most men and women are able to work together in the same environment without "hooking up." Whenever I've seen other shows start putting characters together like that, it's usually a sign that the show is ending and the writers have run out of ideas.EG: Worf/Troi, Chakotay/Seven. If SNW puts Pike and Una together I'll be very disappointed.Because of the age old trope of men and women can't be friends.
Annoying and painful.
Just wait until the VR version comes outWhile their are people who can maybe help heal some issues like a rash or something I think in the end I want a doctor when it comes to performing surgery. Though their is a means of sort of cutting through all that unneeded medical school training and becoming ready at a faster rate.
Even if they haven't "run out of ideas" it is still less interesting to me. Romance is just, well it's a dime a dozen in fiction.Agreed. Assuming the Enterprise still has a crew of 200 or so as established in The Cage and in Disco, then it's already got a larger medical staff than would be needed for a crew this size given in this episode we know there's one doctor and two nurses (Chapel and someone else seen in the background). Voyager with a crew of 150 only had one doctor and one nurse assigned to it when it was launched with an EMH as backup. An actual US Navy ship with a crew of 300 is considered too small to have an actual doctor assigned to it, they typically only have medics and corpsmen to handle their medical needs.Bernd Schneider updated his website with his review of this week's episode https://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/episodes/snw2.htm#amongthelotuseaters and pointed out "The reimagined Enterprise has a huge sickbay, much like a hospital with a bed for every single crew member if necessary. But apparently just one single doctor, and none at all when he is on an away mission."
If they wanted to show Boyce, this week's episode would've been the prime opportunity to do so.
I didn't know this info, thanks!Assuming the Enterprise still has a crew of 200 or so as established in The Cage and in Disco, then it's already got a larger medical staff than would be needed for a crew this size given in this episode we know there's one doctor and two nurses (Chapel and someone else seen in the background).
