They have a track record of turning out very entertaining episodes, so I'm reasonably sure this will be cool, but to be honest, I still wish they would do less revisiting of old places, people and concepts. I guess it's kinda baked into the idea of doing a “Pike show”, but at this point I'm pretty confident these writers are capable of telling compelling stories without having to rely on old stuff. I wonder if the part of the audience that's new to Trek isn't overwhelmed by the amount of callbacks they are presented with. With these last couple of episodes I often found myself having to give my non-Trekkie wife a quick rundown of stuff like augments, the Eugenics wars, Khan etc.

Yeah, I'd like to not do this again next week.

At least the LD crossover will be forward-looking.

Good. Pretty good. My least favorite of the new season thus far but still, an entertaining 57 minutes well spent.

It was the typical middle-season Voyager trudge with prettier graphix.

Easily the worst episode of the series so far.

Also, "You believed a fairy tail." Then: "This is a magic castle."

Well, in a sense it was.
The construction of the walls was figured out and then forgotten.
To anyone not knowing how the 'science' works it would seem like magic.
The 'forgetting' is insidious.

I enjoyed it then I forgot that. Then I said I’m Enterprise is Great and I love this show a few times and then I remembered I enjoyed the episode. My least favorite episode of the season but I enjoyed it a lot. 8/10.

I’m not sure how this fits with the TOS pilot and that big ugly faced hulkish Kalar dude we saw. No one looked similar at all.

Ortegas looked cute in her Kalkar outfit. The hat was dope.

If this was an Ortegas episode, it was lame sauce. It seems that with every series of Star Trek there is that one character that the writers struggle over and that might be this series her.

Another thing - the original matte painting for Rigel VII was far better at evoking a place than what was seen in SNW.

I think we'll find with this episode that most folks don't like to be reminded that we're merely human. But only two seats.
I was like, Dude, go sit down and strap in, but then had to assume there was more seating out of shot. Maybe the shuttles are modular. I keep thinking there's another station on the shuttle that we've seen. Like Spock was off to the side in first Gorn episode...maybe...?

Technically, this does count as a strange new world, since we didn't know this planet was that wacky before.
But where did all those phaser rifles come from? Is he supposed to have built them?
