News Star Trek Prodigy Cancelled, Season 2 to be shopped around

I would not be surprised if the vast majority of the show's viewers had been adults; which is kind of a problem when the stated reason for your existence is to get kids interested in Star Trek.

Particularly because there's also a large portion of adults who just refuse to watch anything animated on principle.

By definition, then, an animated Trek show will always, always get lower viewership than a live-action Trek show.

Of course, they're also a lot cheaper to make, but still.

Hopefully in season 2 if it eventually streams somewhere
Back in the day, a US network TV show might be pulled, with its remaining episodes surfacing 6-9 months later as some local channel in New Zealand, Portugal, Serbia, or a satellite channel targeting western expats in the Middle East eventually aired everything they paid for.

My first question then is did PRODIGY air anywhere in the world not on P+ or on an owned-by-Nickelodeon localized channel?

This show frazzled my brain, but it was great. I will miss Dal and the gang.

Perhaps it can be bought by Twitter and broken down in to ‘micro tweets’ of video content for blue tick subscribers? Prodigy season 2 could launch Twitters new video content streaming service which will one day rival YouTube, a bit like how Voyager helped to launch UPN.

Let's not get that scumbag Musk anywhere near Star Trek.

Amazing.

It's not enough to cancel the show? It really has to be *removed* from the streaming service?...
If they keep it, they have to pay whatever licensing fee they agreed to, as well as residuals to the talent.

By removing it, they are absolved of those costs and by selling it (assuming they find a buyer - which they probably will); they make money and pass the licensing cost and residual payments to the buyer.

Who exactly is going to buy Season 2? All of the streaming networks, even Disney and Netflix, have their own problems right now.

I’m not going anywhere near the cesspit that is Twitter.

Disney? Maybe?
Disney would be *perfect* for Prodigy, a lot of the animation truly is Disney worthy. I was hoping that Disney (and Lucasfilm) would be involved with the next big Star Trek project. If Disney buys Prodigy, that would be a step in the right direction for them being involved in the next Star Trek film.

They seem to have their hands full with Star Wars and Marvel.
