Spoilers ST Strange New Worlds - Starships and Technology Season Two Discussion

The Enterprise has a clear visual on the "Crossfield" so it more than likely is a Crossfield or a pre/post refit version like how the Enterprise/Constitution apparently has multiple pre/post refit versions. IMHO.

Maybe USS Discovery and USS Glenn had the massive secondary hulls and associated warp nacelles as a mission package for the spire drive and other black ops research.

USS Crossfield has a different secondary hull, maybe to test the Constitution-class nacelles and warp engine. It seems more "modern" than the Klingons War era starships with the squared nacelles.

Have any ships from DIS with the skinny rectangular warp nacelles appeared in SNW? I know that original DIS co-creator Bryan Fuller insisted on rectangular nacelles for all Starfleet ships when that show was in development, but since he's been long gone from actually working on Trek, maybe the SNW Crossfield-class removes a lot of his influence.

In the SNW forum's Starship thread one of the posters (Blackout) wrote that the art director called it a fake or franken-ship and it is not an actual Crossfield class.

There was one in the background when the Enterprise was in drydock in the series premiere.

Was a Shepard class in the dock behind the Enterprise in S1 Ep1

But otherwise, no, and honestly they should use them, actually bit tired of the retreads there using, the Not Connie, the Farraguat, now the Crossfield with connie nacelles.. USE the 8 ships ya'll made for Disco.. were not going to complain if you use a Magee in a scene..!

I won't complain either. If they're being shipped to one or another Academy or Museum campus outside the core systems, even better.

Like the season 1 Klingons, the season 1 Starfleet vessels are being phased out. SNW is going for more of a TOS feel, so those ships will doubtless be rarely seen if at all.

That could aid continuity, but then they could just use the era-appropriate STO and FASA designs instead.

Kudos for supplying a link! Alas, Memory Alpha does not have specific documentation yet.

Some of them certainly. I was somewhat disappointed that a Cardenas wasn't included as part of the Stargazer's lineage in PIC S2.

Probably because the Cardenas looks nothing like a TOS era ship; people who didn’t watch DSC would get confused as to why there’s a ship that looks more advanced than the Constellation class but less advanced than the Sagan class, when there wasn’t supposed to be any Stargazers between the two.

I suppose that's true, and I did like the Radiant-class 23rd century Stargazer (PLEASE can we get one to cameo in SNW!?):

It was just... there was already a four-nacelled 23rd century starship right there, you know?

They could use a refit.
