Scotty on DS9

Scotty was really awkward with Worf in Relics. That and his history with Klingons in TOS and the movies combined makes me think it would be awhile before he warmed up to Worf or, later, Martok. In the end, maybe they would be friends. This can’t happen on screen now, but it is fun to talk about it; Write about it.

How about Scotty meeting Kang, Kor, and Koloth when they come to visit Dax? There's history there with all of them.

So you're the one who beamed tribbles onto my ship!!!

Then we'd have another "Klingons locked up in a holding cell" episode.

Too bad he didn't meet B'Elanna - Klingon (ok, half human) and Chief Engineer.

We’ll never know if he met her, since it was never written, but Scotty, after Relics, could have met B’Elanna after she returned home. Maybe there could have been a seminar that Scotty and she could have attended.

This may have been asked before but this is my first post. I've often wondered if they could have used Scotty on DS9 as a recurring character a couple of times a season. He had a shuttle and could have gone to DS9 to resupply for his continued travels and upgrades to the shuttle. Also would have been a good chance to develop the character more. Any thoughts?
Yeah. Put a hard-drinking old Scotsman and a pugnacious young Irishman to work together on projects around the station. What can possibly go wrong?

No need for Scotty, they had O'Brien.

It didn't seem like the station had enough engineers. They were a little vague on the population of the station, several thousand I think was referred to. Everything that could go wrong in a town of 5000 would be a call to Engineering - plumbers, electricians, fixing the replicator. And there's just O'Brien and a few assistants.

I imagine a lot of simple fixes could be done by civilians and other crewmembers - basic things, like tightening screws, swapping out power packs, etc. Engineers would appreciate not being called on for every tiny thing, much like doctors don't want to have to fix every hangnail and bruise.

as good as DS9 was (and it was!), something it always failed at was making you feel how huge the station was. Babylon V truly managed to get across how vast and crowded it could be.

Of course, Scotty didn't realize that Worf had brawled alongside him in the K-7 station bar. The two might have finally warmed up to each other after getting up to speed on the Defiant's time travel adventure.

I don't know, I could see an Englishman fitting in with his fellow UKers.

Are you from the UK? The Irish and Scottish famously hate the English. Put Welshie from Futurama in as well and Bashir would have been out of an airlock with no EV suit.

The UK is not one big happy island where all the 'UKers' love each other. ;)

It's possible to get along with individuals who had nothing to do with English policies in the past.

At the time the Scottish exit referendum was held, voting it down was seen as Scotland's only sure way of staying IN the EU. I'm not at all sure that the vote would turn out the same way if it was held again today. (And neither is the UK government, since they will not allow a new vote.)

I think even moreso in the 24th century the point is everyone gets along. Now Scotty might think something about them being young or inexperienced (I'm thinking specifically Bashir Season 1), but not race or class or nationality or anything like that.
