Yes he was. He changed since ROTJ. People change. Were you the same person you were 30 years ago?

Yeah, the sequel trilogy has a ton of problems but this isn’t actually one of them. I can understand SW fans not enjoying the developmental path Luke took and that’s their right (I’m not sure I actually enjoy it all that much to be honest) but it’s not unreasonable nor is it blasphemous or anything.

The Starfleet of the Federation is a continuation of the Starfleet of United Earth.
Starfleet ships in the TOS era, including Kirk's Enterprise during its five-year mission, still worked for the United Earth Space Probe Agency.
posting a screen cap from an unofficial, fan edited wiki isn't proof of anything.

Then she should have said "Federation Starfleet."

Probably why they shot her.
She didn't need to her saying "leading to what we know as starfleet" is enough.

Dear merciful heavens I wish irony punctuation had caught on.

Why is the only path forward for the franchise it's past?

Ha! Fair enough.

Having an Enterprise isn’t really going to the past though….

I would be thrilled with a series sometime in the 25th or 26th (or hell, even contemporaneous with DSC in the 32nd) century with a totally new ship and crew in a new place seeking out new life and new civilizations and boldly going. And it would be cool to call it Enterprise. It’s a hallmark and a brand.

I mean, I guess you can argue that making an exploration based episodic space opera show is the past. But that is the essence of Trek to me.

Season 1 and 2 boils down to Patrick Stewart not wanting to do a TNG reunion show.
Season 1 had a showrunner in Chabon, who seemed to not know much about TNG / Trek.
Season 2 had Goldsman, who did his homework but got overwhelmed, which is why Matalas was brought in to help him. Matalas was given Season
I was under the impression Chabon was a big Trek fan. So was Goldman, IIRC. Never heard about Goldman being overwhelmed. Matalas was brought in to replace Chabon.

I can't stop watching the scene especially the last two minutes where they're getting ready to ship out.

There's some very interesting subtext in this episode. Written and Directed by Terry Matalas.

Starfleet (The franchise) is damaged, dark and broken by several very poor decisions, and it's up to The Last Generation to set things right (yes, Ep 10 does end on a very hopeful note). Ep 9 is Infinity War, Ep 10 is Endgame.

The Gen Z (Zoomers) are the ones to have their minds warped and corrupted (an interesting commentary on today's society; social media, the looming mental health crisis facing that generation). And I'm early 30s, so I'm not talking down on them, I'm just recognizing the commentary here (or commenTerry ;).. lol)

The Transgender character (Ensign Esmar) is used as the face of this group, and they take the command chair and give the fleet orders.

And then Terry gives many of the supposed 'Anti-Woke' channels on YT these episodes way in advance, and appears on their channels regularly.

In many ways, this almost comes across as the opposite approach and perspective that the Discovery 'creatives' took with their version of Star Trek.

All that being said, I still stand by this is a 20/10 episode... with the best yet to come. We haven't seen such an effective payoff like this since "What You Leave Behind."
Think you might be reading a bit too much into it.

Yes, it is. It's basically a tradition based on past ships.

Sarcasm? Because no where did I say this. I just said have a new ship name. Somehow that means I'm not a fan, wasting my time, and don't want an exploration based show...:vulcan::wtf:

No, it was genuine, I was saying it is a valid preferential argument/preference, even if it’s not mine, to not want exploration based space opera.

Now, a genuine, not accusatory or trying to set up a dunk question: what would you like the next series to be? Like from a genre perspective? If not exploration based space opera, then….
