He’s not a minor figure in American history. It’s a big fleet, and progressive people like him, figures in human history, absolutely would be recognized in it if some of (many of) the other names we’ve seen are.

It reminded me of what Anakin told Padme in Attack of the Clones when he was criticizing democracy. Jack thinks that because of the Borg in him. In the past the Borg Queen has said the Borg bring order to chaos. I think that's what he was saying. Just IMO but I think looking into it real world politically is seeing too much into it.
Oh, this I agree with 100 percent. There's a lot this season that the same people praising this season for would be attacking Discovery for. How do I know? Because they've attacked Discovery for these things in the past.

The confederation timeline of the past became the main timeline when Renee ended up going to space after all. The Jurati borg then took La Sirena and left...a few hundred years pass and Jurati reappears.
The DS9 writers, when doing the imagined season 8 of the show for the What We Left Behind documentary, proposed having the USS Emmett Till commanded by Ezri Dax, and went to the trouble of having concept art drawn up by John Eaves for it.

So high stakes are bad if it's a new show, but good if it features characters we know?
It does appear as if those events have been quite handily brushed under the cosmic rug, as it were.
Not the Jurati Borg events at the end of Season 2. That happened in our timeline after Picard and the La Sirena crew returned to their own proper history. The Borg Queen was from the Confederation timeline but what we witnessed in Episode 10 last year was not from that altered history.
Shaw even referenced the season 2 Borg stuff briefly this season.
I hope they don't try to shoehorn in an 11th-hour Borg civil war over earth. That might be a bit much.
True. It wasn't exactly the same. Close enough. Any differences I just chalk up to Geordi using what he had on hand when it came to NOS parts. The bridge was pretty torn apart in Generations so certain angles of walls etc could be a bit off etc as Geordi redid it. It's a good facsimile and didn't need to be exact...
Matalas said the finale will be very divisive. I take that to mean fans of the Borg will be upset they are gone for good, and non-fans of the Borg will love it.

It's tough. I'll ask my junior high aged son about time with his friends at school and all they do is play games on separate laptops. When I asked about what they talked about at lunch or before school it's always they didn't talk they were just on their laptops their entire time. So yea kids just aren't developing the same social skills. He says he tries to make conversation with people but everyone is just on their computers.
