I wonder if Peter David is healthy enough to write a final New Frontier novel in reaction to this episode.
A dictator that wields authority through the forcible excision of individuality is a great concept in Trek. It's the ultimate antithesis to liberalism. Besides, there are so few villains in Trek that are just evil, so it's refreshing.I've just never found the Borg Queen all that interesting. Borg? Sure. Her? Nah. Actresses are great though.
Sounds unhealthy and something that anyone with scruples wouldn't want to encourage.Keep farming those paid photographs and signatures, scumbags...
I think the 25 and under concept is a strong critique of our population that is 25 and under, a lost generation with little motivation and direction.
They had the NX-01 available.. Couldn't they have atleast Towed it to Earth to be part of the cermony? Maybe give it impulse power?? Fly in formation with the Ent F like some airshows do with say a P 51 and an F 15?

Of course I can. Can't I say something negative without others thinking I am flying into histrionics? It doesn't work for me anymore. I also thought the BWAAAAAAA noise every time we saw the Shrike as a bad musical choice. It's not a big deal. I'm not going to say STAR TREK IS RUINED FOREVER.

Yes he did the Picard maneuver, make it so, and engage. I'm waiting for the commander Riker maneuver in the last episode. It was great. Only a stone cold heart would say this was terrible and that they hated it especially if they were Next Generation fans.I've rewatched it three times, and only now did I notice Stewart does the 'Picard Maneuver' as he sits down in the D's Captain's chair.
Some of the best memories of my life happened at a Star Trek convention. Getting to meet some of my favorite actors was a wonderful bonus, but aside from that, never did I feel more at home than when I was surrounded by my fellow Star Trek nerds. They're social events. There an opportunity to hang out with your fellow fans, see old friends, make new ones, check out the cool costumes, browse the dealer's room, go to panels, and hang out in the bar with your Trekkie pals until they kick you out. They're parties/reunions/fairs and festivals. In short, they're for fun and socializing.
(I like to describe the annual Shore Leave convention in Maryland as the Trek Novelist High School Reunion.)
And, honestly, back in the day, before the internet, when you were lucky if maybe there was one other sci-fi nerd at your high school, it was frankly amazing and practically life-changing to suddenly find yourself in the same place with dozens of people who shared your own, weird, fannish tastes. Conventions were where we found our tribe, forged lifelong friendships, romantic relationships, and often blossomed in a supportive, hospitable environment.
The celebrity appearances are just icing on the cake.
Agree. She was fine in First Contact to give the Borg a literal face, but she's been used poorly ever since and I wasn't happy about the revisionism of "The Queen was there all along!" I think the Borg can and should go about their business just fine without the queen much of the time.I've just never found the Borg Queen all that interesting. Borg? Sure. Her? Nah. Actresses are great though.

Unfortunately it's a big yep. I was so looking forward to this season based on early reviews from youtubers whose opinions I've respected prior to this, along with my own love of TNG and the hopes that they'd give them a great send off. Nostalgia is a powerful weapon. The band back together. If I were a betting man (which I am) I'll guarantee you that so many Star Trek fans will watch this again in a few years time and go, "what was I thinking?"
I think he’s been very keen to write one for a while; they just wouldn’t give him a contract. Shame, I loved his stuff - even though his writing became very dark as time went on.
Holy crap…76 pages on DAY 1.
I’d give this one an 8.5-9 outta 10. Demerits for killing Shaw but bonus for the E-D reveal.
I thought Jack submitted to the Queen a bit too easily.
I said this morning I thought the only reason Shaw died was to set up Seven as the Captain of the Titan (or whatever ship) for Legacy…after rewatching…yeah…I still think that and it stinks. “Its your ship now…you have the conn…”
who woulda pegged Data as a pessimist.
loved Worf extolling the virtues of the Enterprise E
The Enterprise F is ugly. Props to the creator and the STO folk for getting their time to shine but…woof. That said if Master Replicas finds stock of the Eaglemoss model of it they made I’ll buy one to add to the collection of Enterprises I have.
it was a bit of a jump in logic that Borg experienced Admirals like Janeway (presumably) and Shelby would be down with the connected fleet when Riker could spot how Borg like it was.
The E-D reveal was really well done. I wonder if Barrett’s voice was always there or if they added it later after Matalas found out there was a sound library available that she recorded.
Can’t wait to see how they wrap it up.
