Probably because that would seem rude? Fans at a convention want to celebrate the show, not examine it in a challenging way.

It would definitely make for an interesting interview or podcast though. I hope someone takes that up.

That's so bizarrely incongruent. You have this show that's supposed to be about the intellectual exploration of ideas and yet at the same time this encouragement of cult like zombie devotion. Guess that's why I'd rather go to Florida than any convention.

A lot of virtrol and bubbling anger.

I get that not every episode is for everyone, but I don't understand people who say that the plot/concept/execution of this episode was somehow worse than anything else we've had over the last 35/36 years.

Was it campy? Yeah of course, but every Star Trek villian has been.
So true.

Also, look at S1 & S2 of TNG, VOY, and ENT for plenty of examples of bad writing.

I'm I losing it, or was "networked Starfleet ships run amok" also the climax of the most recent seasons of both Prodigy and Lower Decks?

It was. And threat to the existence of the federation has been the threat of many of the recent Disco and Picard seasons and were called out as such but for some reason people have been ok with it this season.

Or the voice. So that person just looked and sounded like that so that viewers would not know who the villain was the whole time.

The red door imagery was junk, too. Didn't fit with the Borg at all. You can't allude to something if your allusions have ABSOLUTELY ZERO VISUAL, AURAL, OR THEMATIC CONNECTION TO IT. It's SO bad. Really, it's shameful.

The ending is also extremely similar to the ending of the The Expanse books.

It's not incongruent, it's just the reality. I wouldn't want to go to a convention either, but if I did I wouldn't be the dick asking why something was wrong or point out flaws in the storytelling logic.

It's for fans to see their heroes and hear the same anecdotes, not an academic conference.

Man, had a 30 minute meeting and missed like 40 posts!

I forgot that LDS did that too.

He has worked on other series, most notably 12 Monkeys, which was admittedly also an expansion of existing IP, though it did have critical acclaim starting in Season 2.

I really enjoyed 12 Monkeys, but I binged it and I'm also not sure a lot of it truly makes sense if you were to stop and think about it.

Sounds unhealthy and something that anyone with scruples wouldn't want to encourage.Keep farming those paid photographs and signatures, scumbags...

I think I know your problem. You think Star Trek is about the intellectual exploration of ideas. Except for the odd episode, no it never has been. It's always been entertaining junky space opera.

This is how I've always felt and how I respond when people have complained about Disco / earlier Picard seasons not all being about delivering lessons as if that's the only thing star trek has ever done.

While you're right that the quality:crap ratio is so skewed by now that there is far more swill than quality Trek, and so it's fair to say that Trek is swill, through around the 5th season of TNG it was still what I claimed it to be.

Like I said, Trek's been junk since DS9.
