I'm calling it now:

Jack's a Pah-Wraith hybrid in the same way Sisko was to the Prophets, the red eyes and whispering door have too much of the soft lighting of the visions. It'd also be totally how you'd shoot those kind of scenes in the 2020s.

Also explains the melty face reffering to the Changelings as seemingly seperate from themselves, and no real "linking" through communications. Pah Wraiths seemed very big into flesh and blood mutilation, so making one of them constantly have to cut off their hand in order to talk (when that form is itself painful and basically the same as a normal solid) seems right up their street too.

Keep seeing people on tinternets go "oh but the pah wraiths have no connection to the founders."

So? Neither do the ones in this conspiracy. They're evolved and have greatly shortened their lifespans in order to spit in the eye of the greatest solid enemy they'd ever come across.

The very angry, grudge filled Pah Wraiths also hold a massive grudge against The Federation also as the one which kept them locked away in the fire caves would be one Captain Benjamin Sisko.

Would also explain the seemingly random Bajoran crewman we have on the Titan who can basically info dump this, too.

Hey, hey...hey. It's true that they spliced T2 footage into the fanwank.
But also Hot Shots Part Deux as well. :ack:

I've only been seeing the thing for the past thirty years!

Hot Shots! probably got the footage from T2 (they were both produced by the same company -- 20th Century Fox).

Tuvok has already been there judging by his memories in VOY: Random Thoughts
This was probably too cryptic and I only found out recently and thought it was crazy.

If you don’t know the clips of Tuvok’s violent thoughts in the episode (the one where they are drug dealing violent thoughts among telepaths) are actual footage from the film Event Horizon. Both paramount and released about the same time.

Finding out this kind of thing always reminds me of just how old 90s Trek is! I always think of Event Horizon as an ancient film. Similarly when I find out that TNG and DS9 overlapped substantially with Seinfeld, which is just so so dated (but still hilarious) now.

Agreed. The E is the better-looking ship, sure, but I have virtually no emotional attachment to it beyond that. The D, however... the Enterprise with by far the most screen time, the Enterprise with the crew that made me fall in love with Star Trek in the first place... no contest. I'm not even a fan of the Galaxy-class aesthetically, but if the D reappears then 100% guaranteed I will cry. Because it's not just the ship, it's what that ship represents.

How will the Enterprise D show up? The star drive was destroyed in generations and the saucer is a massive wreck.

If the answer is major repairs to the saucer and a new star drive it’s hardly the same ship.

RIP Earl Boen.

Now I know who to blame for the spelling error that pops up repeatedly throughout the book. It's supposed to be Lois and Clark, not Lewis and Clark.

Oops. Honestly, that book was on a super-tight deadline. "Editing" mostly meant playing traffic director: acquiring the rights, doing the deal, making sure everything stayed on track, got approved by the studio in a timely manner, the contracts got signed before we went to press, the author got paid in a timely fashion, etc. As I recall, there was little actual line-editing involved.

It's actually the D from another time line.
