The other factor might be Beverly herself and explain why Jack has all these abilities and Picard didn't. I mean Wesley is also another powered child of hers...
This is consistent with TNG.
Yeah I really hope they tie this into why she disappeared off for 20 years.
I'm no Anthropologist, but I think Evolution, especially species-wide, takes a lot more than 800 years. I also lean towards Jack being unique.Okay, while I do understand the idea that Picard/Jack could be seen as "the next phase of human evolution.."
We need to understand, that isn't gonna happen..why? Because in the 32nd Century the humans we see are not telepaths and all that.
Villains usually are silly. Vadic was in pain, clearly suffering and sadistic. It makes sense to her. Sufficient for me.lol
it's just silly. pump out the oxygen on the ship and knock everyone out then.
But it's like how she gave them a random 1 hour deadline the first time she met them.
Beverly’s family had something special that attracted the energy creature for generations and Jack and Wesley likely inherited it from her. Some Humans in Trek do have psi ability and might evolve in a few thousand years to Gary Mitchell and Elizabeth Dehner. Picard’s Irumodic Syndrome might actually be a development along that evolutionary path. Combine all that with the Borg nanoprobes left behind by Locutus and passed on to Jack. Jack’s DNA probably tells the tale to whomever was looking for it.That's where the Sarek part could come in. Psychic assimilation maybe?
So, not so much the Borg themselves, but the nanoprobes passed on to Jack, plus the latent psychic ability. IDK where the Irumodic Syndrome fits in to all of it.
One of the voices we hear behind the door is Beverly saying "find me"

And at the end of it she outright said "The DNA around the microcircuit fibre implants is returning to normal."in Best of Both Worlds, Beverly said the Borg were re-writing his DNA
lol

I feel like they've shown us a pretty consistent reaction of these Changelings to injuries, which is that they do have an initial response as if they are a real person. After a few seconds, they can recover and go goo. But you have a short window where their defenses are down. I feel like it was smart of them to give us a new version of the Changelings, the old ones would be too unbeatable -- even on DS9 the whole gimmick had to be that they mostly held themselves above the fray. Why would a blade even hurt updated changelings? Sure they might be more solid than the originals, but the point of a blade is to cut or stab vital organs. If you have no need for such organs then getting stabbed isn’t going to do much. Unless the henchmen weren’t changelings to begin with. They were infected with changeling goo so they could heal and maybe change outer form, yet they were still solids? This season is definitely a hell of a lot better than last one, but it’s still got its issues.
Really? Huh, I can't believe I never stumbled upon that tidbit, this many decades into my obsessive fandom...Not for nothing, "Locutus" is latin for "speaker,"
