Worf said that Odo told him that a group of changelings split off from the great link, they probably went back and found others to join them. And where did they live to reproduce?

I was just thinking about it, but the music is incredibly jarring, both the entrance music, and especially the exit music, because it is just slapped on regardless of how the episode ends, and the music from the episode and then the closing music is just wholly incompatible with one another.
For that matter, when Lore was in control, why didn't he just beam Geordi's daughter and Jack into space? Or maybe he was trying to do that and Data was fighting him the whole time?I really struggled to enjoy this week, sorry but it barely makes the 5/10 mark, Tuvok and the Geordi/DataLore scenes saved it somewhat.
How the hell Picard and Bev MISSED Vadic is beyond me and comes across as sloppy.
With Data hooked up to the ship, he could very easily have beamed Vadic and co. back to the Shrike and returned access to the crew. A needless takeover that could have been solved instantly.
The complete lack of Worf, Riker and Troi is a letdown, although I still couldn't care less about Raffi.
I am, however, still maintaining enthusiasm for next week but out of 7 episodes so far, we get this?
I'm not upset, just very disappointed, expecting big things next week.
Out.
No, this is different because they're using music not designed for this show, in fact it replaced the music from this show, the music tailored for this show, and bookended the show with theme music from Star Trek: First Contact. It does not fit, and is thematically jarring. This is kind of every show though? The music for the intros and end credits (when they even exist) are fixed and independent of the story. It would probably be prohibitively expensive to record opening and closing themes that are dramatically compatible with a a given episode.
Replacing "scrapyard" with "Memorial" would have been a more meaningful and poignant easter egg. Just my opinion.

Too much Star Trek in your Star Trek!

Yeah, that's hard to beat.Still haven't achieve the heights of "Twilight," where everyone looks on at horror at the burning, shattered remains of Earth, and we go into the inexplicably extra-peppy version of "Faith of the Heart."
Yes....This is too much fanwank even for me.

Oh? Where can I find such a thing?Yeah, that's hard to beat.
The thing is, I've heard the actual ENT theme music they intended to use, and it sounded terrific. I wish they would have kept it for more than just the exit music of the series.
Yes.Is it different though?
It functions poorly in context, as the theme from First Contact wasn't adapted for Picard except to be slapped on each end of the episode.Regardless of their source these are the opening and closing themes. It’s the function that matters.
It's been a thematic mismatch since the first episode of season 3.I miss the opening from S1 and S2 which wasn’t original to the show either (it’s an orchestral arrangement of what Batai plays on the flute in The Inner Light).
Another poster talked about ENT and how that was jarring too sometimes. This is an industry thing, not just a Trek or PIC thing.
For some episodes it would be fine, and for this particular one there was a thematic mismatch.
Oh? Where can I find such a thing?
Especially fitting with Frakes having played a character called Xanatos on Gargoyles back in the day...which I have just realised (according to TV Tropes) is the origination of the termIt would be funny if this ended up being a Xanatos Gambit where they intended to lose as a distraction for Worf and Raffi to take the Shrike and rescue Will.
Maybe. I'm not sure. I think the darkness of the production design really does a number on my head. It bugs me that all these people seem to live in perpetual ambient darkness. Human beings need light to thrive. I'm just having a lot of trouble with this season, I admit. I haven't given a single episode a rating higher than 7. I love Captain Shaw, I love Seven, but seeing Data just filled me with Fremdschämen. I want to embrace it all but...Too much Star Trek in your Star Trek!

The original theme, which was present in seasons 1 and 2 fit the overall theme of the series because it was written and composed for this series. The First Contact theme being shoehorned in place with no regard for the thematic content of the series is jarring.I guess what I’m asking you is what should the closing credits sound like, if not that? The FC theme is slow, elegiac and thoughtful, but it’s in a major key mostly so it has a brightness to it. Then it transitions to the Goldsmith TMP/TNG theme (which wasn’t originally going to be used for TNG).
Are you looking for something darker? In minor? What would good ending music sound like to you?

The music was composed by Jeff Russo for the series, there's flute and piccolo in it, which likely callbacks to The Inner Light, but this is not the Inner Light Suite. As I said, the First Contact theme is just shoehorned in without any consideration for how it matches thematically. The effect is jarring.I love that music a lot! But the Inner Light theme shares a lot of musical characteristics with the FC theme. So I’m not sure how it’s jarring. If they used that we’d still hear a lyrical, mostly major key tune at approx 76 beats per minute. The inner light theme uses cello, and the FC theme uses horn, which are pretty close in frequency/pitch range.
Why is the inner light theme less jarring? Is it maybe that you just like it better? Which is fine!
