I had planned to re-watch a bunch of Dominion episodes before "The Dominion", but I've only gotten up to the end of "The Search, Part II". So I'll have to make some drastic cuts.

This is what I'm re-watching now:
"The Die Is Cast" (The Dominion's first serious attempt to destabilize the Alpha Quadrant)
"The Adversary" (The Defiant vs. a Changeling)
"Chimera" (Another Changeling, besides Odo, who lives outside The Great Link)
"What You Leave Behind" (How the Dominion's attempts to destabilize the Alpha Quadrant actually ended up, not to mention cutting right to chase with Odo curing The Founders of the disease Section 31 infected them with, and how things were left with DS9 in general.)

Then I'm rolling right into "The Dominion".

With a title like that, I’m hoping for significant DS9 deep cuts. It’s time.

Can't believe we're already on episode 7. Time flies. The preview was rather interesting and hopefully this is the week we find out more about Vadic's motivations. I say that every week but the season is almost over.

Thanks for the like, Ian. I'd bet if we do see them that they would be much different to the grey suited, grey reptilian warriors that we'd seen in DS9 back in the day!
Television producers are always trying to update creature effects from the past so they look so much more realistic than the older versions!
JB
They can actually change the Jem'Hadar quite a bit without breaking continuity because they are artificially constructed by the founders and it makes sense to update them when needed

"Ah yes, Jem'Hadar served a long time, but after the disastrous war with the Federation we developed the Tosh'Hadar/Jem'Khodar." Just like that we discover their name is their series and model.

I'll make a prediction. I'm guessing that the big cameo we'll see turns out to be a Changeling impersonating a known character. It could be Janeway, O'Brien, or anyone really. It'll be a surprise appearance and then the Changeling revealing. That's how it can be both a big deal but also just a "cameo" at the same time.

I'm still wondering who the big talking head is that was angry with Vadic for not capturing Jack Crusher in last weeks show.
Wait, I don't know why I haven't realised before, but the wording of your post made me realise who it is.

Shatner. Reprising his role from 3rd Rock From the Sun.

"Incoming message from the big giant head" indeed.

Vadic must be Harry Solomon.

The episode is out early in some places.

I haven't seen it but judging by twitter
there's no follow up on Riker and Deanna, and Worf and Raffi are also missing.

UK here. I enjoyed it but feel like the story has slowed to a crawl. Won't say anything else until more people have seen it so no-one gets spoiled because of the early release.
