RMB talks with Christopher Monfette, the writer of this episode. Lots of good insights into the writing process.

Glad the writers ditched the idea of having the attack tribble break free and attack Worf. That would have been super dumb.

The Artificial Tango is out now! Had so much fun talking about as much as we could cram in!

We all know Shatner will not be in the remaining episodes of Picard so it is a moot point. The brief scene of Kirk in the biobed at Daystrom is nothing more than thematically a nod to Spock's tube on the Genesis Planet in a series that is a love letter to Trek from the 80's and 90's.

It's not an inherently bad idea though, and a scene of Picard and Kirk being reunited and comparing notes on their second chances for life after death could have a very meaningful subtext given the ages of the actors and their importance to the franchise.

It's not going to happen so for those of you who don't like even the idea just relax and enjoy the rest of the show.

Imagine the TNG cast hogging the ENT series finale, only more obnoxious and uncalled for.
It would be like Leslie Neilson crashing in on Star Trek VI. "Hey guys! I was in the original original! Remember Forbidden Planet? Now stand back kids, while I show you how it's done!" On top of that, Leslie Neilson from a time when people thought of him as the guy from The Naked Gun.

It could work. But the only thing is, Picard is about everyone being 20 or 30 years older than the last time we saw them, and how the passage of time has effected them. And everyone has known Picard well. Kirk doesn't really know Picard except for one mission and there'd be no passage of time from his perspective. From Kirk's POV, he would've gone from TUC to GEN to PIC in less than the span of a year. So it could work, just not here.

So something that has irritated me this season and with other seasons of Nu Trek: Why do they wait until Monday or Tuesday to release the next episode trailer these days instead of immediately after the episode ends? I doubt that its a spoiler issue, so what is the real reasoning to hold the Next Episode trailers? They used to play them immediately after an end of Classic Era Trek, especially the Ernie Anderson trailers.

There was a Tng book called the Battle of Betazed and it tells the backstory of why the Dominion wanted to have someone find out about the telepathic minds of Betazoids. A Cardassian character that did bad experiments on them. Deanna Troi goes under cover with other characters to help get her planet back and stop the dominion.
