Why bother pulling that stunt with Deanna in the Shrike's brig?

Obviously Riker is not dumb enough to think it's really her, and I suspect Vadic is also not dumb enough to think he'd fall for it.

Which is why it probably is really her. Which Riker can check for with his Imzadi telepathy, which is rarely shown and I don’t think has ever been explained to anyone else in the show. I sort of hope that is precisely what he does.

That may be one of the things Vadic doesn't know.

I mean, I'm sure she knows Deanna is half Betazoid, but perhaps not about the Imzadi thing.

In one of the TNG previews Deanna says there's darkness on the ship .Now we know it's changeling s on the Shrike I'm curious if this will be shown in the show the Dominion.I'm curious about Vadic's back story.

Flashback to 2002: I'm watching Nemesis and I don't like it. We're getting to the end. Data's died. Riker's trying to remember the tune from when he first met Data in "Encounter at Farpoint" and says he can't remember. So they're remembering Data and they have Riker not remembering something. And only Troi cries. I get the "manly men don't cry" thing, but they needed some more of it looking like they're trying to hold back. Like Kirk at the end of TWOK where you can see he's just barely holding it together during the Eulogy. To quote Jammer, "Sometimes less is more, but this time less is less." So all those things bother me, but the main thing that bothered me was Riker not remembering something. Couldn't he have talked about something he did remember?

Present Day: It looks like Terry Matalas has finally corrected this and he goes out of his way to show Riker remembering to whistle "Pop Goes the Weasel!" So now Riker finally remembers! And good thing he did, or they wouldn't have been able to get to DataLoreM5B4LalAlton. Some people might think this was over-the-top "memberberrying" but I disagree. I think they corrected something I had a problem with at the end of NEM. Not a major problem, but a problem nonetheless that didn't help things at the end of watching Nemesis.

Terry had a whole list of things he wanted to address if he was only going to get 10 episodes to do it, and it shows. That doesn't speak to weakness on Picard's part. That speaks to the weakness of the way the TNG Movies left things. Picard had a mess to clean up -- let's be honest -- and it's cleaned things up masterfully.

Grief is a bitch. Doesn’t necessarily make it easy to remember all the details.

Also, of all of the things not good about Nemesis, for me, this was a headscratcher but a minor one at that.

About Changeling Deanna, I just started thinking... what if they did actually kidnap her, and replaced her with an impostor on Nepenthe?

If Picard and the others tried to contact her, it might provide some opportunities for drama with the episode trying to confuse the viewer as to which Deanna is the real deal until the changeling is unmasked at the very end.

Since we’ve seen references to “Encounter at Farpoint,” in the TNG pilot, Riker and Troi are able to speak to each other telepathically.

That’s something a Changeling shouldn’t be able to duplicate (unless we’re going to go with the idea that their ability to duplicate organs and physiology would allow a Changeling to have telepathic/empathic abilities).

Honestly, one thing never broached in Deep Space Nine, is whether Betazoids would be a defense against Changeling infiltration. If a Betazoid is able to read Changelings (since TNG does establish there are some species that are immune to Betazoid abilities), they would be able to feel their deception and out an infiltrator.
