Lol, I've just noticed on the UK Paramount Plus, on this episode if you scrub through the episode, the screencaps that come up to help find the bit you want are actually from Undiscovered Country...

I have a screenshot but can't upload pics...

I thought it was on Prime in the UK?

You’d think seeing the body of James Kirk (which sounded like he had life signs) would get more than just a passing glance.
That would require these people to have taste beyond "Let's throw another bit of fan service against the wall."

It's on both. Trek here is a bit all over the place.

Series 1 and 2 were just on Prime when they came out but have been added to P+ when it went live here.

Disco used to be on netflix, but season 4 was only on Pluto as we didn't yet have P+ - which is where it is now.

SNW is only on P+. we had to wait for P+ to launch for it

Lower Decks was always on Prime, I'm guessing that season 4 will be on P+, or both.

Prodigy is only on P+ (and I THINK was broadcast live on Nickelodeon, but I don't have that)

Meanwhile all the old stuff is on Netflix and P+

The positives:

Shaw geeking out with Geordi.
The LaForge Family in general
Seven waxing nostalgic about Voyager (although in the back of my mind I can't shake how rough Jeri had it for those years - but that's on me)
Riker/Worf banter
The way they brought Spiner in as an Old Soong Android was really very clever

Riker getting captured was a nice sakes upping moment (but I really wanted Worf to actually leave in a ship and go rescue him as soon as he made his vow). In real life the villians would ask Riker one more time and then take off one of Deanna's limbs if he didn't and he'd blab in a millisecond. But it's not Season 1 and Echeb, so it'll be something less awful.

I actually - LIKE - the "fan service" in the museum. because that's absolutely the place for it. Jack being a starship trivia buff is adorable. It was all of the easter eggs at Daystrom that got me a little eye-rolly. I honestly don't need "Picard" to be connected to every Star Trek film and TV series ever.

There's also a difference between Scotty showing up one time, Spock coming in for a show, De Kelly having a cameo, Kirk being mentioned twice and Sarek having an episode in the span of 7 years (plus one torch passing film) and having very episode littered with references to not only Berman Trek, but TOS episodes and movies that TNG had nothing to do with. I don't have that many references to things in my OWN past hitting me as much as the trivia in this series. TNG connected to TOS but barely actually mentioned it. By contrast, this series can't stop bringing it up. Again, everyone is different, mileage varies, I am really really enjoying the story and getting the TNG crew back together. I also like the connections to DS9 and Voyager. But I - personally - don't have the strongest need for a Trek Trivia Night. Just my preference. I have friends who are eating this up. It's all fair.

Having said all that: if all of these references actually figure into the plot at the very end of this season, I will happily come back and admit they had more in mind than geeking out on Easter Eggs.

It read "Genesis II Device".
I'm sure Carol and Co had the plans backed up and Daystrom could have made a new one, more powerful or controllable.
or
Daystrom took the basic ideas and made their own.
Somehow, somewhere in that facility, there must be the body of someone named Dylan Hunt at Daystrom. ;)

Why exactly did Vadic kill those two Starfleet officers? Most likely because they were loose ends either way (either as changelings or corrupt officers outliving their usefulness, since they were participating in the brutalization of a highly decorated ranking officer)

He got a pretty big hero moment in "no win scenario".

Nah, I'm fine with that. Geordi himself was one of the top fleet engineers and knows systems inside and out, which is likely why he went to the Fleet Museum posting when he got the chance.

It'd be either him or meeting O'Brien, who is canoncally the most important engineer in Federation History, after all...

2. I might have to rewatch it but everyone seems to be saying Daystrom is a S31 facility which isn’t what I got from it at all. I thought when asked what was kept there the answer was “lots of 31’s stuff”. It might be that 31 was exposed/disbanded and they had to put everything somewhere.

Not what I got either. S31's the sort who would put stuff with people who understand what the hell they have. So makes sense considering Daystrom is such a catch-all of the weird and wonderful in the universe.

I interpreted that scene as she killed two other changelings, because they were vaporized in the same manner as the changelings we have seen. I don't think real Starfleet officers would stand aside while a captain was beaten after being arrested.

As for why, I think there's a bigger game afoot here - maybe more than one faction within the Changelings themselves.

The clip for episode 7 gives you a hint of what is happening

They're generally treated as expendable and replaceable pawns (Vadic vapourised two assets to cover her tracks, earlier on she killed another for yapping back, etc) not as sacred near demi-god figures.

And one thing this shows is that the Federation government is well aware of Section 31 and its activities, but said government definitely refuses to acknowledge its existence.
