After giving it some thought, I think marketing wise it was very odd to include Moriarty in the trailer.... Given his short (though effective) appearance, wouldn't it have worked a whole lot better if the audience had been surprised by him, as we were of Ro Laren of the Changelings, which were kept a secret to great effect..?

"fully integrated ships talking to each other"

That turned out REALLY WELL for another universe didn't it?
Only because that OTHER Universe didn't have someone like James T. Kirk <--- Who routinely was able to force various Rouge AIs to destroy themselves with a few well placed words... ;)

Vadic killed the two security officers, so they were not changelings. But if they were real Starfleet officers, then Starfleet torturing and threatening to kill prisoners is normal procedure now?

Inside what has just been identified as a Section31 black site? Probably. Nothing a dermal regenerator won’t fix at that point too…
They may also think *he* is a Changeling or similar at that point themselves. This is about a corrupted Starfleet at the end of the day…

Wouldn't Kirk's family (we know at least he had a nephew although we don't know if said nephew had kids to last till the late 24th century) and Picard himself have legal rights to their own corpses and thus Starfleet illegally appropriated them?
It's been established 31 doesn't exactly care about the law (that at least wasn't changed so far). Do you think the genocide virus was legal?

Vadic acts too much like a normal "solid" which makes her being a changeling odd. Her frequent smoking of cigars and other mannerisms strike me as something other than a normal changeling. I wonder if she and others like her aren't true changelings.
A thought I had: what if Odo was somehow able to impregnate Kira and the result are one of these "solid" Changelings? Said offspring tried joining the Great Link, infected a portion of the Great Link, these Changelings were exiled, along with Odo. The remaining uninfected Great Link decided to keep their peace with the Federation, the outcasts, pissed they don't have a home, swear revenge on the Federation.

(Not sure how this scenario would involve Picard or Jack)

I'll be honest; I'm not even sure where to begin with this one.
There were bits I liked and bits I didn't.

How in the blue hell do they have the Genesis torpedo? There was only one made and I'm pretty sure the thing exploded, unless Carol Marcus made another one?

It read "Genesis II Device".
I'm sure Carol and Co had the plans backed up and Daystrom could have made a new one, more powerful or controllable.
or
Daystrom took the basic ideas and made their own.

Me, reading this thread and seeing fans whine about “too much fan service:”

FFS people, allow yourselves some child like joy….just for a minute or two!!
;)

I remember way back in the 1990s when I watched Relics (TNG) and I just thought it was so cool... but now it's bad to bring elements from the past back? I don't fucking get it either.

Should we shit on TWOK for bringing back a villain 15 years after the fact now? I really don't know?

Quips, callbacks and nostalgia galore, and I absolutely loved it... from we're all gonna die to breakup bloodshed to barracuda tribbles, the Defiant to Voyager to Whale star ship memory row, and pop goes the weasel nostalgia, it all worked, and as a fan, I ate it all up like a cheat day of a diet! It'll be interesting to see the aggregate personality Data ends up with, but Spiner reminded me of how good he is at showing nuances between the characters he's played on Trek. Vadek was deliciously hammy per usual, but the Geordi faux conundrum of family versus helping fell flat, because without defeating the threat, his family is at risk anyway. I did like the allusion to crew as family though. And Geordi's admonition to Jack to stay away from his daughter... As much as I enjoy the new blood mixing in with the Next Gen gang, I'd still much rather see a Section 31 series than a Legacy series, given the lead for that potential show. And there was a mention of Section 31 scraps too, so...

Fantastic episode. Another 9/10 from me.

Thru 6 episodes this is shaping up to be the best “live action” season of nu-Trek so far. Yes, even over Disco S4 and SNW S1.

Goes without saying I loved the fleet museum. A TOS Connie, Kirk’s Enterprise, the Defiant, etc… love that Jack is a big ship geek too. Welcome to the club buddy.

All the easter eggs between the museum and Daystrom should make Lower Decks jealous. Loved the killer Tribble.

Having Geordi back is great. Burton was really good shifting from angry friend to concerned father, to funny “stay away from my Daughter” engineer.

I like the way the brought back Data, Lore, B4 and Lal with a touch of Soong. Cant imagine they would kill him a 3rd time but who knows. And that Lore grin-sneer…so damn good.

Glad Moriarty was more or less a big nothing burger. Always hated that character.

Kirk’s body…next to a genesis weapon is just a fun little easter egg right. Matalas and the team wouldn’t do it…would they. I mean…Shatners only 92…Pine has said recently he wants to play Kirk again…there’s also Mr. generic over on SNW. Nah…

Shaw having his fanboy moment was great. I really like that he’s become fully part of the team. Please don’t kill him off.

not particularly broken up about Seven/Raffi…breaking up. I never bought them as a couple, sisters maybe or frenemeys but they had zero romantic chemistry…IMO anyway.

cant wait for next week.

I thought of that too during the episode. But he turned around really quickly on that and was disappointed in himself. So, I took the first response to be a kneejerk reaction to keeping his daughter safe but then quickly came to his senses. That seems reasonable to me.

Point taken, since Geordi seems to have been living the civilian life since settling down with family... makes sense.
