how Terry has that play out will ultimately decide how the show lives on. Hope he doesn't drop the ball!
Pretty sure it ends after this season...
It was a "Genetically Modified Tribble".

As to which modifications did that, who knows?

Could it have been the Tribbles modified by Edward Larkins in the "The Trouble with Edward" Short Trek?
Crossbred with a gromler.

While last week gave me some great emotions, this week was a bit distracting with all the fan service and basically bringing the entire TNG cast back on screen at once.
Same. Well put
The whole heist and clandestine visit to the museum had an oddly lackadaisical quality. It didn't play like they were in a hurry. It felt like they spent a day or more just kinda wandering around in there.
Well put. Indeed rewatching it it had a Indiana Jones wandering vibe.

Seven's monologue though, that really hit me.

USS Voyager.
She made her name further out than any of those relics had ever gone.
I was reborn there.
She was my home, her crew were my family.

I'm not crying you're crying!

No actually I am crying. A lot.
Voyager is at the bottom of my list of Treks, but I kinda choked up a bit myself. Credit to Jeri.

Vadic killed the two security officers, so they were not changelings. But if they were real Starfleet officers, then Starfleet torturing and threatening to kill prisoners is normal procedure now?

Speaking of the Tribble did that scene kind of freak anyone else out? I think that's the first time the Tribble actually looked threatening, but I guess that's the power of modern day technology and CGI.

When it first said "genetically modified tribble" I assumed it was the ones from the Short Trek that just bred even faster than the normal ones, so I was a little surprised.

It has apparently been proven via analytics that videos with red arrows get more views. It catches the eye or something. Same reason videos these days also capitalize specific words in titles. It's an eye catch.

I remember a podcast where one of the hosts took credit/blame for inflicting listicles on the world when, in an earlier job consulting for websites, he noticed that Cracked articles with numbers in the title got more traffic. So if you ever wondered why even things that aren't lists are (or were, I think the trend fell off after a few years) titled as if they were lists, now you know.

Why not from his dad?

Well, Manic Pixie Dream Mom was the parent who was having delusions and was a danger to herself and others. We haven't ever really seen what a confirmed case of actual Irumodic Syndrome really looks like. In "All Good Things," Picard had it in the future, but we as the audience know he was, in fact, totally sane. In PIC season 1, it, at most, seemed to make him get angry about things that would probably make him angry normally, but now his voice cracks so no one takes him seriously. Now it's allegedly is making Jack see weird doors and creepy tree roots and also murder on suspicion, but I'm not convinced that it's all in his head. It's possible that Yvette's TV-madness was, in fact, classical Irumodic Syndrome and time travel, righteous anger, or some kind of psychic thing that people mistake for Irumodic Syndrome wasn't an accurate portrayal of the disease.

Is anyone else concerned that Riker just starts blasting away at what could be real Starfleet security officers?

"That's what makes this war different from anything we've fought before. This time, we know everyone we kill."

How is it that this season is continuing to deliver every single week? I love this so far, and I love the continuation of the family / parenting theme. Love the performances by the legacy cast. Love the music.

And if “fan service” is wrong, I don’t ever want to be right.

9/10

I honestly don't know where the phrase "Constitution class" first appeared...I tried searching Memory Alpha but it was way too TL;DR
A ship phaser diagram in TOS. Though it wasn’t legible in the actual episode until the HD release.

The first non-canon appearance I think was the TOS Tech Manual? The first canon appearance not needing a HD release I think was ST6. Scotty was looking at blueprint of a ship that mentioned the class name.

We live in a post 9/11 society. :/

This was a 10.

The Daystrom Station Easter eggs. The legendary ships. The real cloaking effect returns; not the one that was used for Nero’s ship that was refused for T’Kuvma Sarcophagus ship and again for the Romulan fleet in SNW, but the one that's been a staple of Trek from TOS to ENT. The episode even answered what became of Picard’s body after S1 ended.

Now that everyone has seen the 6 episode that were seen at the screeners, we’ll see how well the quality holds up for the final four episodes.

I found this one to be one of the weaker episodes of the season. The away team is stuck in Daystrom and there's little sense of urgency as Picard and Georgi chat away. Moriarty was there to justify his place in the trailer, it seems. Kirk's remains or whatever? That was pushing it too far for me. This episode to 90% fan service and 10% story. They can't all be gems but this is the first episode where I felt like they were running in place and padding to stretch this out for the 10 episode commitment. I trust we'll be back on track next week. It's nice to have everyone back now, though.
