I get the 1975 (Terry's birth-year) reference, but really, that's too high for a TOS Connie (25 less than the Excelsior @ 2000). 1795 would have made more sense. At least to those who still think Registries are sequencial.

Maybe the New Jersey was built from left over scraps at the end of the TOS Connie refit process specifically as a museum piece?

I've always felt like the NCC (Naval Construction Contract) numbers in Trek were never meant to be sequential through a class of ships, but fell in the order that ships of various classes were ordered up. That would account for jumbled numbers. Say you have half a dozen ship classes, but you are only going to order 12 Connies, and 1999 is the total number of ships in all six classes. Depending on the order of their construction / commissioning, their NCC numbers can be all over the place.

For this reason alone, it made sense that they re-registered a previously built starship 1701-A in order to honor Kirk and rename her Enterprise. It did NOT make sense to go with the bloody B,C,D,E and so on registry numbers.

I have to wonder... Does the Connie at the museum have the TOS bridge, or the SNW bridge? Or should we not care and just enjoy the show?

I'd say if they don't care enough to show it, we shouldn't care. When they do show it, we can argue about it! ;)

I watched the episode, but I don't know how I missed this! Very interesting...

They went by those things pretty fast. I rolled back and freeze-framed to read the displays. Based on some of the other easter eggs we've seen, that seems to be the thing to do if you want to catch these things. I knew Riker had to be looking at something interesting...

Perhaps they were under orders to defend Daystrom Station, not pursue.

With how desperate Vadic seems to find Crusher it doesn't seem likely they would just let him get away after they find him. orders would be to obtain Jack at all costs.

I hate to be one of those people, but wouldn't a 120-year-old cloaking device be easily detectable? That should be like a baby cloak. I know, I know, "go with the flow!" But you'd think how to detect something that old would've been cracked after Starfleet probably reverse-engineered everything inside the Bounty for intelligence.
Sometimes, when a military force has become so advanced, it becomes incapable of strategically engaging with more primitive tech and tactics. Two good real-world examples are the Viet Cong against American troops in Vietnam and the Afghan Mujahideen against...well... everyone. And we all remember those pesky little Ewoks... ;)

Maybe Daystrom has Kirk's body because it can be harvested for the Kirk Fu gene.

Yas! This! The flying wall kick and judo-neck-chop have NOT been seen since the 23rd Century, and thought to be lost. For the safety of the galaxy, they must be recovered!

Why didn't the ships the Titan encountered at Daystrom follow the Titan? In the past, ships were able to pursue other ships at warp...why couldn't they follow?

I wondered that as well. How many times in Trek have ships chased each other at warp, often-times even exchanging fire?

Eh, the Data scene was meant to be moving, but the fact that it was also supposed to serve as a needed bit of infodump regarding the mystery MacGuffin of the season means it fell flat to me.

Plus this is the third time Trek has tried to wring emotion out of a Data quasi-ressurrction. I don't care any more.

"I watched him die twice."

So did I, Picard. So did I.

Yup. This, coupled with the fact that I don't care much for Spiner. Pretty much out of Data at this point. Pun fully intended.

soooo... Tasha Yar? :D
Who else has a 3 letter last name?
Lal.

It looked like an unused Nova concept from the TNG Tech Manual. Or it could be something from STO.
Ah yes! This one:

Very possible, but so few people know about it. Not sure what it would be doing there, unless that was the stardrive section they attached the E-D's saucer to, maybe.

One other point I thought of:

The bit about starships talking to each other, so fake transponders are of limited utility between starfleet ships. That makes sense, especially since starfleet ships have been networked and talking to one another since Kirk's day.

[Chris Farley] Remember that time when Kirk used his own console to order Reliant to lower her shields? That was awesome! [/Farley]

I'm beginninig to wonder now with this Jim Kirk body in storage thing and Matalas' lines hinting we still haven't seen all the cameos yet etc... is Matalas somehow bringing in Shatner for one last time?

Highly possible. Shatner recently talked about doing a new documentary on his life ("You Can Call Me Bill") - something he vowed to himself he would never do. After finally coming to terms with the fact that he has fewer days ahead of him than behind, he's had a change of heart about such things. He said the documentary was for his grandchildren, so they could know him better.

Chances are high that he would do Kirk again and not be so picky about the content as he has in the past.

Betting that they want Picard's body to use the leftover Borg tech to hijack the fleet on Frontier day to decimate Earth and Starfleet.

Picard et al will need to use the museum ships to stop it, with a rebuilt Enterprise-D being the flagship. Worf will captain the Defiant, Seven will captain Voyager, Jack might end up with Enterprise-A.
I can see this.

The "relics" save the galaxy.

Nice episode. Probably the most fan servicey episode yet. It was quite the distraction from he rest of the episode.

Is this the first time we've had live action characters from TNG,DS9 and VOY all in the same room together for the first time? That's some crossover!

I don't think so because Kirk's alive in those novels. He is even beamed away from Veridian III at the end of 'The Ashes of Eden' which is the first of those novels. But not by Starfleet.

Meaning that the Shatnerverse novels still happened?

That would be amazing.

That should not only be the last scene of the series it should be the last scene of all of Star Trek. But I'd rather see them both on the bridge heading off into deep space.

I doubt they would do that. The man turned 92 yesterday. I don't think he would want to do a series at this stage. Maybe a one off?

I could be wrong but I think the Voy episode where The Doctor comes back to help Dr Zimmerman with his illness already covers all Berman Trek (Reg - TNG/Voy; Zimmerman Voy/DS9; The Doctor TNG (FC)/VOY; Troi TNG/Voy/Ent)
