And (not fully functional) Data pieces from Nemesis :D
I thought it was the Pegasus cloak that had Riker worried.
I’m not a fan of the uniforms Raffi and Geordi are wearing. It looks like they have an apron in.

So, Moriarty. Fairly pointless after all that, huh? Basically, all of his scenes were already in the trailers, and his function within the episode was... uh, I guess just fanservice?

But! The dialogue flowed a lot better for me this week. Some nice character interactions and some fairly pretty spaceship shots. Plus, we're finally off M'Talas Prime, thank Christ. Feel like all the pieces are in place now, so we can actually get going with the plot.

Though, maybe it's time to give Vadic some good motivations. I like her performance, but I'm not really sure what her deal is still, and we're over halfway into the season here.

Still, a fun episode. 7.

This is by far the weakest episode of the season. I appreciate what they were trying to do but there was too much and too little at the same time happening here.

I’m a refit Connie man like Jack and I loved seeing the A but I think I would have been better had they shown all the ships as establishing shots as opposed to having Seven and Jack look at them together. Having said that, it led to a great moment for Jeri Ryan. But we also glossed over (another) Seven/Raffi breakup that happened offscreen. UGH.

I think my biggest problem was that while there was all of this stuff that will make the TrekYards guys climax, at the same time, there were far too many characters introduced (or reintroduced) and far too little time to really do anything meaningful with them, perhaps with the exception of Geordi. Still, Alandra, Moriarty, DataLoreLalB4, Deanna? Shortchanged. Honestly, why even bring back Moriarty? It was ultimately pretty pointless.

But at the same time, while packed with tons of fanservicy and character returns, the episode felt slow. I mean, how do you try to break into a weapons vault, go to the fleet museum, try to enlist an old friend, go back to rescue them and have one of your characters sacrifice himself for the others in 53 minutes and still have all this time for all and I mean ALL of this fanservice?

And why the fuck is Starfleet keeping the dead bodies of Kirk and Picard? Morbid. Fucking morbid.

Sorry, I’ve really enjoyed this season but for all of the reasons this one isn’t sitting well for me.

6/10. I’m actually really disappointed in rating this this low but here we are.

Changelings control Starfleet. why do they need to steal from a facility that's they themselves control?
Not every SFC officer or Admiral has access to 31 stuff.

Geordi's still kicking himself over his "I wish I had a picture of this" bit to Zefram Cochrane, and not remembering at the time that he could've just pulled out the PADD in his hand and taken a photo right there. For some reason he was influenced by late 20th century 1996 thinking at the time. ;)
There's no indication the FC PADDs could take photos. That only appeared in LDS, I think.

- Not digging the dialogue between Geordi and Sydney. I wish they'd drop the pilot vs engineer bits; Geordi was flying the ship before he was an engineer, after all.
Good point!

So Starfleet’s ships are all interlinked? That didn’t work so well for the Colonial fleet during the first Cylon War.

Jack Crusher is my favorite new character this season. He’s very Han Solo-ish. He’s just a fun character. He’s quite a bit like his
father at that age.

Geordi was kind of a dick most of this episode. I'm glad he sort of turned around by the end.

Why is everything so damn dark on the sets?!?

Vadic is just not working for me at all. Normally I enjoy Amanda Plummer’s acting
but this is just irritatingly over the top.

Datalore LalB4 Soong is my nickname for this mashup character. Data’s back kind of.

The heist could’ve been more exciting though.

I loved Shaw geeking out over Geordi. That was fun. It was way different than how Geordi treated Scotty.

Not quite as good as last week’s episode so I’m giving this an 8

I thought that's what it might be, but it was never shown to be anything special :D

If anyone has a Borg Morgue, it's 31 :D

Behold...
Interesting. I can understand why Section 31 would keep it. You don’t want other parties out there messing with him. That’s how the events in the Return happen.

I gotta say, I'm really not interested in the Data amalgam thing.

Also (not a criticism of the writing or characterization) it's really interesting how Shaw reveres Geordi La Forge but can't stand the people who he worked with during a huge portion of that legendary career.

(possible spoilers for future episodes)
Going by an interview from a rather chatty Levar Burton last year, it seems very likely now that this is more or less what happens.

Indeed. A few months ago he also posted a photo of himself on Twitter as Geordi wearing the Starfleet leather field jacket, and the background of the photo is unmistakably a Galaxy-class bridge.

The Data thing reminded me of his resurrection in the novelVerse. There at the end of the episode Brothers, Soong didn’t die but in fact transferred his conscious into a new Android that was almost human looking. Years later, Soong uses the Data memories from B-4 and sacrifices himself so that Data could be reborn in this new body. Difference there is that Data now had all of Soong’s memories making him “smarter” but also more untrustworthy of people.
