Spoilers Season 3 wild speculation

If there was one character I’d want to see this time around it would be Ro Laren. Can you tell us what proof was provided? (I don’t want to get anyone or the board in trouble so I want ask for it to actually be posted.) Also can’t wait to hear what she’s been up to since “Preemptive Strike.”

Screenshot of her and her credit during the end credits as a special guest star.

in response to a complaint about the new meat grinder look of changelings in liquid form to just keep watching the show. Which basically all but says, to me at least, that these changelings are somehow biologically different from normal DS9 changelings. Maybe we shouldn't rule out the scorpion aliens from TNG conspiracy yet, maybe these changelings have been infected by them or something to alter their biology

Terry Matalas retconning himself a lot these days.

No he isn't?

He said in the tweet to keep watching, that makes it sound like it's going to be explained in the show.

I posted that on the previous page without a spoiler tag.

Y'all are being played.

Shaw is a changeling. This is Kurtzman's final "f*ck you" to that section of the Trek fandom that thinks Captains should look more like Riker, Lorca, and Pike (and less like Michael Burnham).

Five seasons of trashing Disco HAS to have gotten to him. Five seasons of being told, "THIS IS THE YEAR DISCO GETS CANCELLED! ALEX KURTZMAN HAS BEEN FIRED, DRAWN, QUARTERED, AND PARADED DOWN HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD WITH HIS HEAD IMPALED ON A PIKE FOR CRIMES AGAINST TREK!"

It's gotten to the point where there's now an inverse relationship between Paramount Global's per share price and the odds of Alex Kurtzman being fired. (I've met these people on Twitter. They come armed with charts and PowerPoint presentations! )

The show isn't even over and there's a petition to give Shaw a series!

Y’know, these past two episodes has given me a new respect for Shaw (which was what I’m sure they were designed to do). His “why was I chosen” scene was quite emotionally evocative and his scenes with Seven and Picard this time were particularly poignant. “Dipshit grease monkey from Chicago” He’s definitely grown on me and, if he absolutely must take one for the team, I hope it’s a righteous death. He deserves it.

There's a danger in bestowing power upon people whose sole qualification is that they just happen to "look the part."

It's a recurring theme within Kurtzman Trek (Picard S1 touched on it with Oh and Rizzo. Disco S1 touched on it with Lorca.)

That may be how Shaw Prime got Titan (The Dominion War had decimated the officer corps. Titan needed a Captain and he just happened to look the part.)

Shaw isn't the greatest fit for Titan's mission of exploration (he regards the unknown as "weird shit").

That may also be how Seven got into Starfleet (it's been twenty years and Starfleet was willing to let bygones be bygones).

what do you mean by “look the part”?

did he maybe jump a rank because the officer corps took a hit during the war, possibly. But I’m sure a lot of people did. But it’s also possible that despite the PTSD he distinguished himself with honor during the war and earned his command.

So what if he thinks the galaxy is filled with weird shit. It is. That should hardly disqualify him.

You’re making a bunch of assumptions based on limited data.

He doesn't sound too terribly enthusiastic about it (at least, not on the level of a Picard or Janeway).

Distinguished himself with honor? He doesn't appear to have done anything particularly memorable (other than survive).

He's the proverbial "best of what's left."

It's a bad look when you're Captain of an exploration vessel.
I don't agree. But, then, I've done many jobs im.not enthusiastic about but still do them to the best of my ability.

Enthusiasm is a lesser trait in my humble opinion.

But that’s my point. We don’t know what he did in the years leading up to him getting his Command. Maybe your right and all he did was survive the war, maybe he performed a miracle engineering feat that saved his ship and a troop or supply convoy.

and the enthusiasm…we aren’t exactly seeing him at his best. He’s got Locutus (in his eyes) on board with an XO he doesn’t care for and his predecessor in Riker. They clearly have ulterior motives, then hijack his ship, get it into a fire fight that they are clearly out matched for, then he nearly dies a few times.

I’m not trying to defend him as some great dude that is just misunderstood. But again, there is just a lot about him we don’t know.
