Tried to skim through to catch up and the main two complaints (apart from swearing and drugs) are:

1. Jack Crusher for some reason looks much older than he is.
2. Jack Crusher inexplicably managed to get into a bar that he was too young to legally get into.

It's easy to get into a bar that serves synthehol.

Swearing? Drugs!? People looking much older than they really are!? PEOPLE IN PUBS BEFORE THE AGE OF 21!?!?!

Sounds like Ireland would be your vision of hell... ;)

(Seriously though, not everyone has the same minimum drinking age as the US in the early 21st century.)

I really hope worf gets his own show. He better not die.
YEAH! OR ELSE!

Don't ask me "Or else what?" 'cause I haven't gotten that far in the planning yet...

Those few Irish holodeck episodes must have been hard...

Anyone else find the script nonsensical and offensive? Would the old Picard have just given up hope in the middle of a crisis and headed down to the holodeck? Would a place for recreation really have its own independent power source while more important systems are failing throughout the ship? Would the ship's captain just hide away in his quarters? Should viewers just accept an android with the mind of elderly admiral is the only person who can "fly blind"?
Nonsensical? A bit.

This season leans super heavy on the melodrama. If that's what you're looking for, melodramatic moments between these larger-than-life characters, then season 3 is certainly going to top the charts, and that's perfectly fine.

For me, though S3 Picard is doing what S1 Discovery did, and since I didn't really enjoy S1 Discovery, it's not going to have as much a positive effect on me. It also means where people have invested so much into these people and their history, minor and even major quibbles are going to be ignored for the bigger picture while folks like myself who are unsatisfied with how it's unfolding will notice them and it will degrade our enjoyment. It's just the way attention spans work.

Offensive? Not at all. For me, it's just going in a different direction than I'd hoped. That's not the writers' fault. They can't please everyone, nor should they even try. I'm still along for the ride because I will hope for really good moments and I want to see the resolution of these characters I've loved for most of my life.

So, was the photo that was featured so prominently behind Jean-Luc in Ten Forward a picture of our forum member Therin of Andor?

What a week to be at a concert in a zoo when the episode drops Down Under! My phone went crazy in the afternoon, with intriguing little "What the -?" messages and alerts, and then my phone battery faded out. Great concert, though.

Finally got to see the episode after midnight! And wow! I am in Blue Heaven, I think. And Jack tells an Andorian anecdote while I hang between him and Picard.

I guess I can say that I have shared scenes with Sir Patrick Stewart and Ed Speleers, and my cosplay outfits are now "screen-used". Even the cardboard phaser from James Razzi's "Star Trek Action Toy Book" is now canon!

And even my insignia of the USS Hood.
