Wasn't that the writers fan-boying over Jonathon Frakes and just wanted him to show up as much as possible?Wasn't there that time that Riker unexpectedly showed up to save the day (with the Jerry Goldsmith theme playing) in the season finale of two different Trek shows in the same year?![]()
DS9 and ST:VOY would disagree..Not from a show that is currently In-Production.
He needs to stop calling every viewer a "nerd" at the beginning of the show. This is no longer the height of The Chris Hardwick Nerd Commodification Era and many viewers don't self-identify as "nerds." Also Star Trek is supposed to about inclusivity and that means welcoming nerds and non-nerds, if one is to use this outmoded jargon. I mean, The Sisko isn't a nerd, and Star Trek should want future Siskos in the audience to feel welcome to the franchise.
Saying Star Trek is for nerds is one of the continued black marks on a franchise supposedly about inclusiveness.
Who cares about mainstream? It comes across as "stay in your lane."Nerds are pretty mainstream now, considering comic book movies are the biggest draws at the movies.
He leads a harder life than most 20 year olds attending university. Besides, he's more like 24. Besides, I've seen high schoolers who looks older than him.The problem with Ed Speelers is that he's way to old. he's 35 in real life. He just can't pass for 20. He's a perfectly serviceable actor, but I just can't see past this quite obvious flaw.
I knew a couple folks who could grow a decent goatee in the sixth grade.I spent 11 years working at a high school and I swear to God some of those kids were able to grow better beards as teenagers then I have ever been able to.

He is a good actor and I can suspend disbelief. Maybe he aged ten years in a transporter accident or time travel mishap. I also could look at the movie posters of Eragon or the TV show Downton Abbey, where the actor is atpround the right age for this character, and mentally juxtapose that image over the one of him from Picard. He leads a harder life than most 20 year olds attending university. Most of Humanity would prefer to look younger as they age.Not much disbelief to suspend, as people age differently. I've seen 30 year olds who could pass as 15 years olds and 20 year olds who could pass for a 40 years olds.
