So far this Season 3 of Picard is awesome. I finaly am enjoying this Star Trek story/ plot arc. For me its what I've been craving for some time.
Cudos to the writting/production staff. May this team live long and prosper in other Trek series yet to come.

Episode 1 was great, Picard, Riker, Seven, the Titan, episode 2 was ok but for me everytime that Raffi charactor appeared the whole episide seems to grind to a halt, as i was not a fan of season 1/2 at all because of most if the charactors in those shows.
.
But I do not know what it is with Disco and Picard 1/2 because both are fine with how they look but seem to be filled with charactors that are very easy to take a dislike, but SNW seems to have flipped that around 100% and i am totally enjoying the show, the charactors and stories.....i have no idea why.

Well, borrowing from youngster's term today, I can also say that Raffi's character is emo. So yes, I agree. Sometime, she's unbearable. But I'm not dislike her. I just like Jurati and Rios way way better. It is unfortunate that both of them are gone now.

There was nothing wrong with seasons 1 and 2.

There was nothing that needed to be "righted."

Different does not equal "bad." To say this is how Picard always "should have been" is to disrespect the cast and crew of the first two seasons and their intentions.

There was a LOT wrong with season 1 and 2 and it has nothing to do with Picard's current old age status and changes in his demeanor. Which many people experience in life. Season 2 was probably the worst season of Star Trek ever. That's including anything from Discovery. The problem has more to do with they are telling ONE 10 hour episode. One story. So if it's a bad story the whole season ends up sucking. This is why a 22 or 24 episode season is preferable with maybe two part eps or a mini arc thrown in. 10 episode one story seasons generally just suck for Star trek. If they can't make more than 10 episodes. Keep it at 1 episode stories with maybe one 2 part episode. The Mandolorian and Boba Fett were way better than most of current Star Trek.....

The pacing was so bad in season 2 and than limiting John Delancie to 21 lousy minutes in about 9 hours of filmed story!!!! TRAGIC......It would have been better to have one or two Q centric episodes and end it there. But NOOOOO we got served crap....
.

This all said. Season 3 is a HUGE improvement.

So far, I'd rank the live-action New Trek seasons:

PIC Season 3 (yes, I know it's only two episodes in, let's not have this argument again and pretend we did!)
PIC Season 1
DSC Season 4
DSC Season 1
SNW Season 1
DSC Season 2
(I like this season and will be lenient on it under the circumstances)
DSC Season 3 (I still like this season a lot, but something has to come in next-to-last)
PIC Season 2 (not everything can be blamed on Covid)

For me, I'd probably go
Picard S1
SNW S1
Picard S2
Disco S3
Disco S2
Disco S1
Disco S4

I'm leaving Picard S3 out at the moment since we're only two episodes in

I'm pretty rough on the new live-action seasons and feel that the modern Trek animation block leaves them in the dust. But if I was going to rank:
SNW1
DISCO3
PIC1
DISCO2
PIC2
PIC3
DISCO4
DISCO1

Admittedly, I'm ranking PIC S3 so far against the first couple of episodes of S1 and S2. So unless it completely faceplants in the middle, it's at least going to finish just under PIC S1. :D

Speak for yourself, not everyone.

I agree with Dar. I mean cone on you would actually prefer to watch old picard stumble around in his chateau finding himself as a kid watching his mother commit suicide rather than see him om the bridge of a starship kicking butt and taking names or even him in a briefing room taking with the tng group coming up with option on how to defeat a new threat? The choice is pretty clear to me. No chateau, no little picard, no watching his mom commit suicide over several episodes
This is Star Trek not Star Dreck.

The entire storyline with J-L, his mom, and his dad were the first time I've ever really felt seen in Star Trek. I wish S2 had been more tightly written, but it might be one of my favorite seasons of all Trek. Different stories and different themes connect with different ppl

I would probably rank them this way

Discovery Season 2
Discovery Season 1
Picard Season 1
Strange New Worlds Season 1
Discovery Season 4
Discovery Season 3
Picard Season 2

If I were to include the Animated Shows:

Lower Decks Season 3 (Favorite Season of New Trek)
Prodigy Season 1 (Below Discovery Season 2)
Lower Decks Season 2 (Below Prodigy Season 1
Lower Decks Season 1 (Below Picard Season 1)

I like Prodigy a lot, but I don't think it's cut from the same cloth as DSC, PIC, and SNW. This will outrage some people, especially in this thread, but I think DSC, PIC, and SNW are more similar to each other than different. I see PIC as basically TNG-flavored DSC and SNW as basically TOS-flavored DSC. That makes it easy to compare the three to each other.

Prodigy is distinctly something else. I'm not familiar with a lot of cartoons after 1990, but I get a Voyager meets Beast Wars type of vibe out of Prodigy and whatever high-end CGI cartoons there are out there these days. I know they're out there, even if I'm not familiar with them, and I feel like Prodigy is one of those. It stands apart from the other series. And in a good way.

I stopped watching Lower Decks, so I can't compare what I haven't seen.

That's not true. Season Two of Star Trek: Picard could not have been the worst season of Star Trek ever because it was neither Season Two of Star Trek: Enterprise nor Season Six or Seven of Star Trek: Voyager, nor was it Season One of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

No.

Star Trek: Prodigy is very much Star Trek meets Avatar: The Last Airbender.
