That is completely disingenuous and unfair to the animated shows. Just because it's an animated show doesn't mean it lacks quality over the live action shows. In fact, I would say there is more Star Trek heart in Lower Decks and Prodigy than there ever was in Season 2 of Picard (Not sure about Season 3 yet) or a lot of Discovery. You also had a lot of characters returning for both shows, like:
Tom Paris
Chakotay
Janeway
Riker
Troi
Kira
Quark
Admiral Jellico
Cochrane
The episode Kobyashi from Prodigy brought back a number of characters, like Odo and Beverly Crusher.
This idea that the animated shows are inferior to the live action shows just because they are animated is something I don't, or won't ever, buy.
According to the Trek timeline:
Voyager S7: 2378
ST Nemesis: 2379
Lower Decks S1: 2380
Lower Decks S3: 2382?
Prodigy: 2383
Picard S3: 2401
Talking about moving forward in the 25th century isn't throwing shade at LD/PRO, it is acknowledging the truth of the timeline. Picard is 20 years agead of them. Going forward from Picard cannot be via LD/PRO.
Now, certainly some of the same characters are around. And animation may make it easier for sime to reappearxas their 2382/3 selves. But it is still 20 years behind where PIC is. That ain't forward.
EDIT: Though ceryainly LD/PRO can move forward from VOY. Prodigy certainly is.
