Spoilers Did Picard finally ''right the ship'' with Picard season 3?

That is completely disingenuous and unfair to the animated shows. Just because it's an animated show doesn't mean it lacks quality over the live action shows. In fact, I would say there is more Star Trek heart in Lower Decks and Prodigy than there ever was in Season 2 of Picard (Not sure about Season 3 yet) or a lot of Discovery. You also had a lot of characters returning for both shows, like:

Tom Paris
Chakotay
Janeway
Riker
Troi
Kira
Quark
Admiral Jellico
Cochrane
The episode Kobyashi from Prodigy brought back a number of characters, like Odo and Beverly Crusher.

This idea that the animated shows are inferior to the live action shows just because they are animated is something I don't, or won't ever, buy.

According to the Trek timeline:

Voyager S7: 2378
ST Nemesis: 2379
Lower Decks S1: 2380
Lower Decks S3: 2382?
Prodigy: 2383
Picard S3: 2401

Talking about moving forward in the 25th century isn't throwing shade at LD/PRO, it is acknowledging the truth of the timeline. Picard is 20 years agead of them. Going forward from Picard cannot be via LD/PRO.

Now, certainly some of the same characters are around. And animation may make it easier for sime to reappearxas their 2382/3 selves. But it is still 20 years behind where PIC is. That ain't forward.

EDIT: Though ceryainly LD/PRO can move forward from VOY. Prodigy certainly is.

What I was quoting made it seem like they were ignoring what LD and Prodigy were doing. Yeah moving further in the 25th century is good while LD and Prodigy are just after Voyager, but I was under the impression that LD and Prodigy were not moving trek forward, which was wrong.

They've chosen to follow the same standard that Kurtzman has employed for all his streaming shows, which is one heavily centered around a season-long mystery. Honestly, I was never a big fan of this, because Star Trek is not really a mystery-oriented franchise. Which is why the mysteries have not formed nor resolved very well, it's been way too disjointed. I don't think this season, despite allowing Terry Matalas of 12 Monkeys' series-long mystery fame, to take the helm. It just doesn't work for Star Trek.

How many TNG episodes revolved around solving a mystery? Tons.

To be fair, the arcs for DISCOVERY seasons 1, 2, and 3 and PICARD seasons 1 and 2 have all been ruptured midstream by the replacement of a showrunner, Covid restrictions, and/or needing to bring in an outside editing expert to make a season somewhat coherent.

To date, only DISCOVERY season 4 has began and ended a season arc on its own terms. Terry did an awesome job on 12 MONKEYS seasons 3 and 4, so he might make it work here and stick the landing.

Yes. It is wise to remember context when making harsh pronunciations.

PIC season 1 didn’t have its showrunner replaced, neither did DSC season 3.
Michael Chabon was not the original showrunner for STP season 1. He took over around episode 5 or 6, and brought on his wife as a co-executive producer. James Duff heavily rewrote the first episode, and many of his writing colleagues from THE CLOSER and MAJOR CRIMES were listed in the credits as producers.

John Ottman heavily revised DISCOVERY season 3 in editing.

I hope he is successful but I stand firm that Star Trek (as devised) was never meant to have stories told in this manner. One could argue that TV in general shouldn't be played out this way. While it may work brilliantly for Breaking Bad, not a fan of it for Trek. But I realize this is the nature of the beast. It really has nothing to do with what's already happened, and frankly, the repeated failure for CBS to keep to a plan is kind of evidence of that.

Too much episodic Trek sank Berman-era Trek in 2005.

Trek is for everyone and there is a Trek FOR everyone.
